Happy First Needle Monday of the Year 2024!

Bendecido inicio de semana, me complace inmensamente estar en esta ocasión de lunes de costura con ustedes y compartir uno de mis proyectos más recientes. Se trata de un dúo de batas para dormir que he realizado, uno para mi nieta y otra para mí. Tenía algo de tiempo queriendo hacernos unas pijamas o batolas para dormir, y este modelo me pareció fresco y lindo.

Blessed start to the week, I am immensely pleased to be with you on this occasion of Sewing Monday and share one of my most recent projects. This is a duo of sleeping robes that I have made, one for my granddaughter and one for me. I had been wanting to make some pajamas or bathrobes for some time, and this model seemed fresh and cute to me.

Hace unos días atrás fui a la tienda de telas y encontré este tipo de estampado que me gustó mucho, porque era de muchos animales, y los dibujos me parecieron muy bien hechos en un estilo no usual. Generalmente no había visto este nivel de arte en un estampado de tela. Para hacer más ideal la tela, era super suave, sin dudar mi primer pensamiento fue de hacer algo para mi nieta y para mi en modo de dúo.

A few days ago I went to the fabric store and found this type of print that I really liked, because it was of many animals, and the drawings seemed very well done in an unusual style. I generally haven't seen this level of art in a fabric print. To make the fabric more ideal, it was super soft, without hesitation my first thought was to make something for my granddaughter and me in duo mode.

Ayer 31 no siempre es una buena fecha, este año al menos estuve en la compañía de mi nieta Lis. Mis hijos ya han hecho su vida y viven algo lejos de mi, por lo que ya me he acostumbrado a pasar algunas fechas como días comunes. Ella y yo estuvimos en el día en el corredor, cosiendo un poco y jugando. Después realizamos la cena típica familiar de la fecha, que fue ensalada, hallaca, pan de jamón, carne y bollos. Nos dimos al rato un baño y nos colocamos las batas para ir a ver tv un rato. Mi nieta sonreía y no dejaba de tocarse la barriga, la tela es tan suave que ella no paraba de tocarla. Estoy tratando de recordar el nombre de la tela, pero sinceramente no llega a mi mente.

Yesterday the 31st is not always a good date, this year at least I was in the company of my granddaughter Lis. My children have already made their lives and live somewhat far from me, so I have become accustomed to passing some dates as ordinary days. She and I spent the day in the hallway, sewing a little and playing. Afterwards we had the typical family dinner of the date, which was salad, hallaca, ham bread, meat and buns. After a while we took a bath and put on our robes to go watch TV for a while. My granddaughter smiled and kept touching her belly, the fabric is so soft that she couldn't stop touching it. I'm trying to remember the name of the fabric, but it honestly doesn't come to mind.

Lis y yo por nuestro lado, pasamos una noche tranquila. Vimos tv un rato y al poco tiempo ella simplemente se durmió. Yo apagué el tv y me propuse a dormir. Fue un buen descanso, dormí contenta con mi nueva bata, es tan suave y holgada, que me es complicado describir a plenitud la sensación de comodidad. Además de eso, se siente muy bien poder confeccionar lo que deseas, es la primera vez que hago una pieza para mí y me siento muy feliz al respecto.

Lis and I, on our side, spent a quiet night. We watched TV for a while and soon she just fell asleep. I turned off the TV and decided to go to sleep. It was a good rest, I slept happily in my new robe, it is so soft and loose, that it is difficult for me to fully describe the feeling of comfort. Besides that, it feels very good to be able to make what you want, it is the first time I have made a piece for myself and I feel very happy about it.

Las batas son tallas : XL (Adulto), 8 (niña)

Proceso de Creación / Creation Process

Como no tenía un patrón de bata, tomé una franela mía que quedara algo holgada y desde allí tomé las medidas. Igualmente lo hice para sacar el de mi nieta. Lo único que he agregado es más abierta la sisa y el largo que deseaba, que debe ser más prolongado. La bata se compone de dos piezas, un delantero y un trasero, la diferencia se centra en el cuello. Corté algunos listones para colocar a modo de rib en el cuello, siempre estirando a lo horizontal. Y otro listón para colocar un voladito a la bata de mi nieta.

Since I didn't have a robe pattern, I took a flannel of mine that was a little loose and took the measurements from there. I also did it to get my granddaughter's. The only thing I have added is more open armholes and the length I wanted, which should be longer. The robe is made up of two pieces, a front and a back, the difference centers on the neck. I cut some ribbons to place as a rib on the neck, always stretching horizontally. And another ribbon to add a little ruffle to my granddaughter's robe.

Ahora que hemos cortado las piezas necesarias, iremos a la máquina a coser. Iniciaré con el armado de bata de niña, uniendo con costura la parte superior de los hombros. Para ello enfrentamos derechos, haciendo coincidir las piezas y cosemos.

Now that we have cut the necessary pieces, we will go to the machine to sew. I will start with assembling the girl's robe, sewing the upper part of the shoulders together. To do this, we face right sides, matching the pieces and sewing.

Después armamos el cuello, con un listón que hemos cortado, de 4 centímetros de ancho. Le doblamos a mitad y enfrentamos derechos con el borde del cuello, pasamos costura por el contorno hasta haber unido ambas piezas.

Then we assemble the neck, with a ribbon that we have cut, 4 centimeters wide. We fold it in half and face it straight with the edge of the neck, we sew along the outline until we have joined both pieces.

Continuaremos con las sisas, que trabajaremos de igual manera que el cuello. Cerramos con costura los costados, iniciando desde la sisa interior, hasta el final de la bata.

We will continue with the armholes, which we will work in the same way as the neck. We sew the sides together, starting from the inner armhole, to the end of the robe.

Para finalizar, tomaremos el listón que hemos cortado para los voladitos de la parte inferior o terminal de la bata. Enfrentamos derechos y haremos algunos pliegues al momento de la costura.

To finish, we will take the ribbon that we have cut for the ruffles at the bottom or terminal part of the robe. We face straight and we will make some folds when sewing.

Resultado / Result

Para el caso de la versión adulta se arma de la misma manera, salvo que en mi caso no le he colocado voladitos y tampoco trabajado el borde de las sisas al igual que el cuello. En cambio, he hecho un orillo con la misma pieza de tela del cuerpo. Sentí que así era más holgada la pieza.

In the case of the adult version, it is put together in the same way, except that in my case I have not placed ruffles and nor have I worked on the edge of the armholes or the neck. Instead, I made a selvedge with the same piece of fabric as the body. I felt that the piece was looser this way.
