Art comes to Les Gets: attending Montreux Comedy - Weekend experience in France

Hello dear friends of Weekend Experiences in the beautiful Hive family, today I'm sharing with you an outing from a couple of weekends ago, when we were sent from work to this comedy in Les Gets.

It turns out that something quite particular happens here, and that is that this town is full of English people. For me, who was born in Argentina, this is a very strange phenomenon, as I am in a French village with only English people.

In the bars, the waiters speak English, in the bars too. Some speak French, but as soon as they see that you don't speak French, they speak English. It's very nice but it's quite strange, as I've had the opposite experience in other cities in France, hehe.

So guess what... this comedy, it was in English, hehe.

In the job I'm in, we have a point system whereby with the team of temporary workers, we achieve rewards. It turns out that we reached a total of 100 points the other week, so we got a free ticket to go to this comedy. We were divided into different groups and I got to go on Saturday 20th January. The name of the comedy, which was a stand up, is Montreux Comedy.

Although I had been told that I wouldn't understand too much because the jokes were too closed to English culture, it turned out that not only did I understand it, but I found it extremely funny.

The comedians included Maisie Adam, Suzi Ruffell, Lara Ricote, Phil Wang, Celya AB, Larry Dean, Brennan Reece, Matt Richardson, and I had the opportunity to do dinner for them one night, as they were staying in one of the chalets of the company I work for, hehe.

I didn't know any of them, but I have to say that Maisie Adam was my favourite, I found her jokes extremely funny.

Something super interesting besides the show itself was that they offered free hot chocolate or mulled wine at the entrance, which was quite nice that day, because it was just too cold.

In the interval, you could also choose to repeat the wine or the hot chocolate.

As we were with my work colleagues, we went for a drink in a bar called Boomerang afterwards, but we all came back early because the next day we had to start a new working day early.
