Come and visit the most beautiful bookstore in the world according to National Geographic: El Ateneo Grand Splendid

Hello my dear friends of the Pinmapple community in the Hive Ecosystem!!! I hope you are having a wonderful day where you are out there discovering the world.

This time I come to bring you a place that I fell in love with, and it is a bookstore that really looks like something out of a fantasy movie.

I am talking about El Ateneo Grand Splendid which is located in the city of Buenos Aires, on Santa Fe street, in the Recoleta neighborhood.

It is a huge bookstore that has been created in an old theater, called Grand Splendid, so all its shape makes it seem really magical. Upon entering, the warm lights already start to give a special feeling, and once you go further and further into this bookstore, you feel like you are entering a parallel universe, where there are only books.

The predominant colors are beige and red, plus the golden lights and the absence of windows. I didn't notice the latter until I left the building, as the daylight reminded me that I was living in a world and that night was nowhere near.

I spent about two hours in El Ateneo Grand Splendid, on the one hand taking pictures to share with you and on the other hand, I got lost in the personal growth books area. In the end I bought one called The Man Who Loved Seagulls by Osho.

According to the Buenos Aires tourism website, this bookstore was chosen as the second best bookstore in the world by the UK newspaper The Guardian, and National Geographic from the US selected it as the most beautiful one.

The details

Since this is a theater, literally, there are many, many parts that captivate with their architectural and design details. The ceiling is one of them, where a painted dome immediately catches the eye, especially as you ascend the staircase.

The gilding of the walls, as well as its reliefs and shapes are really special. I don't know much about architecture, so I don't want to talk too much, but even though I have almost no knowledge of it, I was fascinated. It gave me the feeling of a beautiful colonial destination, where, added to the books with their stories, it gave the impression of being transported to another era.

The coffee shop

On the stage of what used to be that theater, the cafeteria of this bookstore is located, which attracts a lot of attention, since the main backdrops, fastened to the sides, give way to a large space in the center, made up of what would be the stage boards, where the tables are, waiting for visitors to sit and enjoy a delicious breakfast or snack, while simultaneously they have a view of the dazzling structure full of books.

The prices are similar to those of the rest of the city, especially those of the tourist places, so do not think that it will be too expensive to sit there.

Levels

Another particularity of this place is that it has different levels where there are books distributed all over the place.

On the first floor, everything is full of different stories and colors, there is even a sector reserved for Harry Potter, where they have tried to imitate Platform 9 ¾ and where visitors take pictures, especially children and teenagers.

Then, we have two more floors, which, as it is a theater, are made up of the characteristic boxes of these cultural centers.

In this way, with their balcony shape and their characteristic curvature, they not only accommodate thousands and thousands of books, but as one ascends, one can enjoy beautiful panoramas of a stage. It is as if it were a theatrical play that is happening permanently, because let's remember that not only are the books there, but there are hundreds of people marveling, taking pictures, watching, reading, walking, and their faces show the same as mine: fascination.

Truly, this place looks like the scenic montage for a movie, but no, it is a real life bookstore where books are sold and it is located in the Federal Capital of Argentina.

On several occasions when I was in there I forgot about time and any problems that might be on my mind. I was just contemplating everything as if I were a child. I think all book lovers must have felt a similar sensation.

The books are perfectly organized according to subject matter. For example, the Yoga area is on the second floor, in the "sports" section, but you could also find different copies in the "personal development" section.

Well friends, you will see that this place deserves to be visited, toured, photographed, because it is a bookstore that has been published in major magazines and honestly, it is a dream come true. It's like being in Disney at Mickey Mouse's house as if recreating something, but this is real. It's even worthy of being compared to Harry Potter-style story scenarios.

I hope you go sometime and those who live in Buenos Aires, without fail, if you haven't been there yet, hehe.

¡Buenas fotos! Saludos :)
