Enjoy this breathtaking landscape: Lake Montriond in the French Alps

Hello dear friends of Hive and Pinmapple! I hope you are having a spectacular day!!! Today I will be taking you for a walk around a lake that is very close to Morzine, but that already takes us more intensely into the beauty of the French Alps.

This is Lake Montriond and it is very easy to get there, as you must take the M line of the free buses from Morzine. This will take you directly to the lake.

As soon as I got off at this site, I could see a body of water almost completely frozen, which invited to approach to contemplate it. Being frozen, the lake looked almost all white, but when you began to approach it, as the slope changed, it was allowing the reality to come to light, and is that some banks were already melting.

This gave rise to an unparalleled landscape, where the reflection of the imposing mountain was seen in the water, absolutely calm, and if you followed its drawing, the reality led you to raise your eyes to the heights, where the majesty of the French Alps stood before you.

Hola amigos queridos de Hive y de Pinmapple! Espero que estén pasando un día espectacular!! Hoy estaré llevándolos a pasear por un lago que queda muy cerca de Morzine, pero que ya nos adentra de manera más intensa en la belleza de los Alpes Franceses.

Se trata del Lago de Montriond y es muy sencillo llegar hasta allí, ya que debes tomar la línea M de los buses gratuitos de Morzine. Esto te llevará directamente al lago.

Ni bien bajé en este sitio, pude observar un cuerpo de agua casi por completo congelado, que invitaba a acercarse a contemplarlo. Al estar congelado, el lago se veía casi todo blanco, pero cuando empezabas a aproximarte a él, conforme se modificaba la pendiente, la misma iba permitiendo que la realidad saliera a la luz, y es que algunas orillas ya se estaban derritiendo.

Esto daba lugar a un paisaje sin igual, en donde el reflejo de la imponente montaña se veía en el agua, absolutamente calma, y si seguías su dibujo, la realidad te llevaba a elevar la vista hacia las alturas, en donde la majestuosidad de los Alpes Franceses se erguían ante tí.

That was one of the happiest moments and days of my stay in the Rhône Alpes area, a place that brought me into encounters with people from cultures so distant from my own that I almost ended up losing myself in the attempt to fit in.

But at the same time it brought me closer to other spaces of my being, such as the love I feel for nature and for the mountains.

Aquel, fue uno de los momentos y días de mayor felicidad en mi estadía en la zona de Rhône Alpes, un sitio que me llevó a encuentros con personas de culturas tan distantes a la mía, que casi termino por perderme yo misma en el intento de encajar.

Pero al mismo tiempo me acercó a otros espacios de mi ser, como el amor que siento por la naturaleza y por la montaña.

Lake Montriond, on the day I visited it, offered a considerably lower temperature in its surroundings than what was felt about 100 meters away from the lake.

I estimate that such a body of ice had the ability to lower the temperature of the points very close to this place.

As you can see in some photos, almost in the middle of the lake there was a group of people doing "something". I have no idea who they were, but they had all the equipment to be there, for sure.

As I saw different instruments in the distance, I estimate that they were scientists who could be measuring the thickness of the ice layer or the depth of the lake, to estimate the water level.

It is somewhat strange that in February (the month in which I made this expedition), there had already been melting in the lake. And even stranger is that the surroundings of this body of water were almost completely clear of snow.

This is not my estimation, but what I have been told by people who have been there for 2 or 3 years. They say that this winter was unusually warm.

El Lago de Montriond, el día que yo lo visité, ofrecía en sus alrededores una temperatura considerablemente más baja de la que se sentía a unos 100 metros de distancia del lago.

Estimo que semejante cuerpo de hielo tuvo la capacidad de disminuir la temperatura de los puntos bien cercanos a este lugar.

Como podrán ver en algunas fotos, casi en el medio del lago había un grupo de personas haciendo “algo”. No tengo idea de quienes eran, pero que tenían todo el equipamiento para estar allí, seguro.

Como vi diferentes instrumentos a lo lejos, estimo que se trataba de científicos que podrían estar midiendo el grosor de la capa de hielo o la profundidad del lago, para estimar el nivel de agua.

Es algo extraño que en febrero (mes en el que hice esta expedicón), ya hubiese habido derretimiento en el lago. Y más extraño aún es que los alrededores de este cuerpo de agua, estuviesen casi por completo despejados de nieve.

Este dato, no es una estimación mía, sino que es lo que me han comentado las personas que llevan allí 2 o 3 años. Dicen que este invierno, fue inusualmente cálido.

At the end of the lake, there was a kind of small house, which I thought was a bar. Actually, there was a bar as soon as I got off the bus, but since they were celebrating a wedding, I ignored it completely.

So, I went to the other end of this space, where there seemed to be "something". Well, I wanted a coffee and a bath to be quite honest.

As soon as I peeked over there, the place looked extremely fancy (too luxurious for my taste), so I opted to use the public restrooms that fortunately were next to this restaurant.

Afterwards, I started my way back and had to run to catch the bus back to Morzine.

Al finalizar el lago, se observaba una especie de casita, que estimé que era un bar. En verdad, había un bar ni bien bajé del bus, pero como estaban celebrando un casamiento, lo ignoré por completo.

De esta manera, me dí a la tarea de ir hacia la otra punta de este espacio, en donde parecía que había “algo”. Pues yo quería un café y un baño para ser muy sincera.

Ni bien me asomé por allí, el lugar se veía en extremo fancy (muy lujoso para mi gusto), así que opté por usar los baños públicos que afortunadamente había al lado de este restaurante.

Después, emprendí mi camino de regreso y tuve que correr para alcanzar el bus de vuelta a Morzine.

Well, this is the border between Morzine and Montriond. I took the shots while walking to the bus stop and then while waiting for it.

I found it a beautiful place. Very warm and welcoming, with an infrastructure and architecture that although it followed a certain pattern similar to Morzine and Les Gets (a village I've already told you a lot about), it showed a bit more stone in its constructions.

I really liked that I saw quite a few local people in this sector, who were much friendlier than the tourists.

Bueno, este es el límite entre Morzine y Montriond. Hice las tomas mientras caminaba hasta la parada de bus y luego mientras lo esperaba.

Me pareció un lugar precioso. Muy cálido y acogedor, con una infraestructura y arquitectura que aunque seguía cierto patrón similar al de Morzine y Les Gets (pueblo del que ya les he hablado mucho), mostraba un poco más de piedra en sus construcciones.

Me gustó mucho que vi a bastantes personas locales en este sector, que se mostraron mucho más amables que los turistas.

If there is something I loved about the French Alps, it is the possibility of knowing small villages and small wonders of nature that are just a few minutes away from ski resorts or places with a good enough connectivity to allow the visitor to go to these places.

The existence of free buses that connect the different villages is one of the highlights of this region of France.

Si hay algo que amé de los Alpes Franceses, es la posibilidad de conocer pequeños pueblos y pequeñas maravillas de la naturaleza que están a muy pocos minutos de centros de ski o de lugares con una conectividad lo suficientemente buena como para permitirle al visitante ir a estos sitios.

La existencia de buses gratuitos que conectan los diferentes pueblos, es uno de los puntos a destacar de esta región de Francia.
