Let's visit Cala d'Or, Spain together!

Cala d'Or is a small paradise located in the Spanish things of the island of Mallorca,

You see, in the south of Spain we find three very famous islands: Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca.

In the middle one, the well known Mallorca and where the beautiful city of Palma de Mallorca is located, there are, to the south, a series of what are called "Calas", which are small "entrances" from the sea to the mainland area of the island. It is something very beautiful to observe, because it is a rocky area with openings of greater or lesser size where the water, between green and crystalline blue is able to hypnotize even the least nature-loving person that exists.

Visitemos juntos Cala d’Or, España!

Cala d’Or es un pequeño paraíso situado en las cosas españolas de la Isla de Mallorca,

Verán, al sur de España encontramos tres islas muy famosas: Ibiza, Mallorca y Menorca.

En la del medio, la reconocida Mallorca y donde se encuentra la hermosa ciudad de Palma de Mallorca, hay, hacia el sur, una serie de lo que se llaman “Calas”, que son pequeñas “entradas” Del Mar hacia el área continental de la isla. Es algo muy bello de observar, porque es una zona rocosa con aperturas de mayor o menor tamaño en donde se da lugar el agua, que entre verde y celeste cristalino es capaz de hipnotizar hasta a la persona menos amante de la naturaleza que exista.

Its colors

It impresses with its colors, but also the environment adds much to the seascape, because as I mentioned previously, the rocks border that area of the island and at the same time, the vegetation, which is varied, harmoniously accompanies the other elements of nature.

On the other hand, the buildings all have a common denominator: the color white, so when walking around the area of Cala d'Or, in that corner of the island of Mallorca, you can reach a beautiful connection with the place, thanks to the balance that exists between the light blue, green and white colors that predominate in the landscape.

Impresiona con sus colores, pero también el entorno suma mucho al paisaje marino, ya que como mencioné previamente, las rocas bordean esa zona de la isla y al mismo tiempo, la vegetación, que es variada, acompaña armoniosamente a los demás elementos de la naturaleza.

Por otro lado, las construcciones guardan todas un común denominador: el color blanco, por lo que al pasear por la zona de Cala d’Or, en aquel recoveco de la isla de Mallorca, se puede alcanzar una hermosa conexión con el lugar, gracias al balance que existe entre los colores celeste, verde y blanco que predominan en el paisaje.

How far is it from Palma?

Well, it is about 1:30 to 2 hours, depending on whether or not the bus runs on time. And in fact, you have to take two buses, one from Cala d'Or to La Verge 1 and then one from there to Palma proper.

It is a bus trip that at least for me went by very quickly, it is extremely pleasant, the transport is comfortable and the scenery is beautiful. However, for people traveling in pairs or more, it is advisable to rent a car, since not only is it faster, but the cost ends up being almost the same, and provides the opportunity to visit more towns.

In my case, I traveled alone and the experience was equally beautiful. Although I admit that I would have liked to have a car to travel more, I took the opportunity to walk around Cala d'Or, visiting the center of this place, Cala Egos and Portopetro, all places that are quite similar to each other but as is often the case, each one has its own charm.

¿Qué tan lejos está de Palma?

Bueno, está a alrededor de 1:30 horas y 2 horas, dependiendo de si el bus pasa o no a horario. Y de hecho, hay que tomar dos buses, uno desde Cala d’Or hasta La Verge 1 y luego uno desde ahí hasta Palma propiamente.

Es un viaje en bus que al menos a mi se me pasó muy rápido, es sumamente ameno, el transporte es cómodo y el paisaje bellísimo. Sin embargo, para las personas que viajan de a dos o más, es recomendable alquilar un auto, ya que no solo se llega más rápido, sino que el gasto termina siendo casi el mismo, y brinda la oportunidad de recorrer más pueblos.

En mi caso, viajé sola y la experiencia fue igualmente hermosa. Aunque reconozco que me hubiese gustado mucho tener un auto para recorrer más, aproveché para caminar por los alrededores de Cala d’Or, pudiendo visitar el centro de este lugar, Cala Egos y Portopetro, todos lugares que guardan bastante similitud entre sí pero como suele ocurrir, cad aunó tiene su encanto.

When to choose Cala d'Or?

This is a destination for those who need to connect with themselves and/or with nature.

Its center is very small and although it has nice and fine restaurants, it is not very crowded, which makes it the ideal destination for those who, as I said, want to get away from the crowd for a moment.

The good thing is that it is not the other extreme either. It is not desolate or in the middle of nowhere. There are pharmacies, supermarkets, bars, but it is oriented to absolute relaxation tourism much more than for the visitor looking for sculptures, churches and historical points.

The good thing is that all this is offered by the city of Palma de Mallorca, which as I said, can be reached by bus, in fact I went twice to Palma.

Cuándo elegir Cala d’Or?

Este es un destino para todos aquellos que necesiten conectarse con ellos/ellas mismas y/o con la naturaleza.

Su centro es muy pequeño y aunque tiene bonitos y finos restaurantes, no presenta gran movimiento de gente, lo cual lo hace el destino ideal para quienes como dije, desean retirarse por un momento de la muchedumbre.

Lo bueno es que tampoco es el otro extremo. No está desolado ni en el medio de la nada. Hay farmacias, supermercados, bares, pero está orientado al turismo de relajación absoluta mucho más que para el visitante que busca las esculturas, iglesias y puntos históricos.

Lo bueno es que todo eso lo ofrece la ciudad de Palma de Mallorca, que como dije, se puede llegar en bus, de hecho yo fui dos veces hasta Palma.

Cala d’Or Center and Port

As I mentioned, it is a small space, but very attractive. The port is right next to it, and if you walk from the beach, you first pass through the port, and then slowly enter the area reserved for bars and some businesses. In total, it should be about 4 blocks with some perpendicular streets that add to the dynamism.

Como comenté, se trata de un espacio pequeño, pero muy vistoso. El puerto está justo al lado, y si uno va caminando desde la playa, pasa primero por el puerto, para luego adentrarse lentamente en el área reservada para bares y algunos negocios. En total, debe tener alrededor de 4 cuadras con algunas calles perpendiculares que se suman al dinamismo.

It turns out that the port of Cala d'Or had a magic, and it is that both day and night, in the water you could see the Cleo reflection of the boats, almost all of them for a walk or dep.

Queridos amigos, se que hay una comunidad para reflejos, pero en esta ocasión, ante la posibilidad de que se desestimen estas tomas por pertenecer a un mismo evento publicado, he decidido compartir las imágenes en esta publicación. Mis disculpas.

Resulta que el puerto de Cala d’Or tenía una magia, y es que tanto de día como de noche, en el agua se veía el Cleo reflejo de las embarcaciones, casi todas ellas de paseo o deporte.

It is a very small but beautiful beach located a few meters from Cala d'Or. The place lends itself to go walking and trekking, so that's what I did, and when I was exploring, I discovered this beautiful place.

At first it was empty, since it was morning, but then, when I was on my way back, it was already filling up with people.

Es una playa muy pequeña pero muy bella que se encuentra a unos metros de Cala d’Or. El lugar se presta para salir a caminar y hacer trekking, así que eso es lo que hice, y cuando estaba explorando, descubrí este hermoso lugar.

Al principio estaba vacío, ya que era la mañana, pero luego, cuando estaba yo de vuelta, ya se estaba llenando de gente.

Something that caught my attention about Cala d'Or and that I forgot to mention, is that most of the signs were in 4 languages: Spanish, Catalan, German, English. The topic of German was super strange to me!! However, I later found out that many Germans choose this destination as a summer resort.

Algo que me llamó la atención de Cala d’Or y que me olvidé de mencionar, es que la mayoría de los carteles estaban en 4 idiomas: español, catalán, alemán, inglés. El tema del alemán me resultó súper extraño!! Sin embargo, luego me enteré que muchos alemanes eligen este destino como lugar de veraneo.
