Let's go trekking in Marseille, France, to the Church with one of the best views of the city
Hello my dear Liketu friends! It's a pleasure to be here one more day, sharing with you another of my adventures. In this case, it is about my days in Marseille, where I would say that I arrived "by chance", although we already know that there is no such thing.
As I like walking a lot, I started to investigate what I had to do in that beautiful French city, and among so many other options, I discovered that very close to where I was, was the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde. Notre Dame, in French, means Our Lady. In this case it translates as Our Lady of the Guard.
The Basilica is located at the top of a hill which can be accessed by car, by climbing stairs or by doing a very gentle sort of climb up the hill. I chose the stairs.
The view from there was really a dream, and you could walk quite a way along an esplanade, which according to which way you looked, left the Mediterranean Sea in front of your eyes, more hills or the city (of course the city shared landscape with the sea and the hills).
The Basilica was very beautiful, with a roof that stood out for its detailed artwork printed on the skyscraper, something very characteristic of Catholic churches, especially those found in Europe.
Outside the building there was a faucet from which water flowed permanently. People drank, washed their faces and hands. I did the same.
This is an extremely famous destination in Marseille. I was just learning about it at that moment. When I was ascending, there was only one gentleman near me also climbing the stairs. I thought I was one of the few tourists who chose this place to visit. But when I managed to get to the top, I saw a large number of people who had ascended by different means of transportation, which surprised me.
I recommend going to this place and as I am a fan of hiking, I think doing it by stairs or trekking type, is the best option. However, if you have back, leg or knee pain, or if you are carrying heavy luggage, I definitely tell you to choose another alternative to climb, because the slope is quite steep.

I learned something new today, Lady of the Guard.
A rich view of the surrounding areas and the building is magnificent :)
I was there a few weeks ago, it's an amazing basilica! You probably didn't see many other people on the way up because it's a very tiring trek!!!! I saw a lot of tourists take the tourist train, but I took the bus. When we walked back down, I felt so sorry for the people walking up, and they still had a long way to go. I didn't have the heart to tell them!
linda ciudad... gracias
