One square, many stories | My entry to the MONOMAD CHALLENGE

Hello my dear friends of the Black and White community with this post I take part in the #monomad challenge. A few days ago I stopped for a few minutes in a square that has not only a long history in the city, but has been the site of numerous meetings for the people, politicians, tourists, some bands, various celebrations and so on.

The characteristic of this space is that it is the largest square in Mendoza, bringing together four blocks. It is the heart of four other very important squares that I will show you later and one of them I already shared a few days ago in Hive. These are the squares: Chile, Italy, Spain and San Martin, each with its own history.

Hola mis queridos amigos de la comunidad de Black and White, con este post participo en el #monomad challenge. Hace unos días me detuve unos minutos en una plaza que tiene no solo larga trayectoria en la ciudad, sino que ha sido el lugar de numerosos encuentros para el pueblo, los políticos, los turistas, algunas bandas, varios festejos y demás.

La característica de este espacio es que conforma la plaza más grande de Mendoza, reuniendo de esta manera, cuatro manzanas. Es el corazón de otras cuatro plazas muy importantes que luego les iré mostrando y una de ellas ya la compartí hace unos días en Hive. Se trata de las plazas: Chile, Italia, España y San Martín cada una de ellas con su propia historia.

Independence Square, as you can see, keeps in itself an important relationship with the squares that surround it. For Argentina was a colony of Spain, San Martin was a protagonist of the country's Independence and collaborated for the Independence of Chile, and these names all appear in the squares.

The Plaza Italia, according to the page of the city of Mendoza before it was called Plaza Lima, capital of Peru, as San Martin also helped the independence of that country (then the name was changed to Italy by the relationship between Italians and Argentines especially after the large immigration flows from Italy to Argentina in times of war and other crises).

So the 5 squares told a whole story: San Martin, born in Corrientes, Argentina, collaborates for the Independence of Peru and Chile from the Kingdom of Spain. And the Plaza Independencia is in the center, shouting libertad. It is very nice history and disposition of these names that also, by their function in Mendoza, also speak to us of freedom, since they are part of the green lungs of the metropolis.

La Plaza Independencia, como pueden ver, guarda en sí misma una relación importante con las plazas que la rodean. Pues Argentina era colonia de España, San Martín fue protagonista de la Independencia del país y colaboró para la Independencia de Chile, y estos nombres figuran todos en las plazas.

La Plaza Italia, según la página de la ciudad de Mendoza antes se llamaba Plaza Lima, capital de Perú, ya que San Martín ayudó también a la independencia de dicho país (luego el nombre se cambió a Italia por la relación entre italianos y argentinos en especial después de los grandes flujos inmigratorios desde Italia hacia Argentina en épocas de guerras y otras crisis).

Por lo que las 5 plazas contaban toda una historia: San Martín, nacido en Corrientes, Argentina, colabora para la Independencia de Perú y Chile del Reino de España. Y la Plaza Independencia queda en el centro, gritando libertad. Es muy bonita historia y disposición de estos nombres que ademas, por su función en Mendoza, también nos hablan de libertad, ya que son parte de los pulmones verdes de la metrópolis.

The square has huge trees and colorful benches, a fountain in the center that is very beautiful, but I found off. It is also where the artisans gather in a beautiful promenade. Unfortunately on this occasion I found neither the fountain on nor the artisans, so I hope to show you them another time.

What I did discover, on the side of the square, in front of the north sidewalk, is something I had never seen before, and it is a sculpture in honor of the Jewish people for an attack on the Embassy of Israel in Argentina. I thought it was very beautiful and it was also decorated with three large and colorful flower pots, at the beginning of the Boulevard of Mitre Street.

Another incredible feature of this square is that it has the huge shield of Mendoza placed towards the west, so at sunset, when they turn on their lights, you can see the shield illuminated and in the background the imposing Andes Mountains. When I took the pictures, there was a celebration or something like that, you can see the people around.

I am really enjoying exploring my city and seeing it with a tourist's eyes, I hope you like it too! :)

La Plaza tiene enormes árboles y bancos vistosos, una fuente en el centro que es muy bella, pero que encontré apagada. Además, es donde se reúnen los artesanos en un paseo precioso. Lamentablemente en esta ocasión no encontré ni la fuente encendida ni a los artesanos, así que espero poder mostrárselos en otra ocasión.

Lo que si descubrí, es, aun costado de la plaza, frente a la vereda norte, algo que no había visto jamás, y es una escultura en honor al pueblo judío por un atentado ocurrido en la Embajada de Israel en Argentina. Me pareció muy bonito y además estaba adornado con tres grandes y vistosas macetas, al empezar el Boulevard de la calle Mitre.

Otra característica increíble de esta plaza es que cuenta con el escudo inmenso de Mendoza colocado hacia el oeste, por lo que al atardecer, cuando encienden sus luces, se puede ver el escudo iluminado y de fondo la imponente Cordillera de Los Andes. Cuando tomé las fotos, había un festejo o algo así, podrán ver a las personas de alrededor.
