Travel with me to San Luis Argentina! 3,5 hs trip enjoying the transition between the mountain landscape of Mendoza and the sierras of San Luis

Hello my dear friends from Hive and Full Deportes, I hope you are having a great day! Today I come to take you on a ride through what was the Mendoza - San Luis stretch and to tell you a little bit about what this experience is like and what you will see.

It turns out that when I've gone to San Luis in the past, my trips have been by car, and I've driven myself, so I've been very focused looking ahead on one of the straightest roads in the whole country (Argentina). While I find driving through the mountains challenging but fun, driving east is the most monotonous experience there is as far as roads go (many people love this route because it's simple, it's very straight).

Because I was afraid to travel there alone because there are some stretches where the signal is lost, I decided to visit my friend Gaby in San Luis, but I opted for the bus, which was a wonderful idea.

Hola mis queridos amigos de Hive y de Full Deportes, espero que estén pasando un hermoso día! Hoy vengo a llevarlos de paseo por lo que fue el tramo Mendoza - San Luis y a contarles un poco cómo es esta experiencia y qué es lo que verán.

Resulta que cuando he ido a San Luis en el pasado, mis viajes han sido en auto, y he manejado yo, por lo que he ido muy concentrada mirando hacia adelante en una de las rutas más rectas de todo el país (Argentina). Mientras manejar por la montaña me resulta desafiante pero divertido, manejar hacia el este es la experiencia más monótona que hay en cuanto a rutas (mucha gente ama esta ruta porque es sencilla, es muy recta).

Debido a que me daba temor viajar sola hasta allá porque hay algunos tramos en donde se pierde la señal, decidí ir a visitar a mi amiga Gaby a San Luis, pero opté por el bus, lo cual fue una idea maravillosa.

I spent about USD 15 round trip (thanks #hive) and not only was I able to rest on the trip, but I also enjoyed the beautiful scenery, which I had not had the opportunity to fully appreciate before.

Although my trip was dominated by rest, as the bus was very comfortable, every time I opened my eyes I saw a beautiful landscape and some particularity.
First the bus stopped in La Paz, still within Mendoza, and once it passed the Arco del Desagüadero, it began to enter San Luis.

Very close to the city, the landscape began to change and the mountains began to stand out on the side of the road. While Mendoza presents high mountains, belonging to the Andes Mountain Range, San Luis already shows smoother undulations in its geoform.

Mendoza is also almost 800 meters above sea level, which means that you are always at that altitude while you are in Mendoza. And San Luis starts to enter the eastern depression. Although it is almost 700 meters above sea level, the change of the topographic profile is already visible in its landscape.

Me gasté alrededor de USD 15 de ida y vuelta (gracias #hive) y no solo pude descansar en el viaje, sino que además disfruté de un paisaje precioso, que antes no había tenido la oportunidad de apreciar por completo.

Aunque en mi viaje predominó el descanso, pues el colectivo estaba muy cómodo, cada vez que abría los ojos veía un paisaje bellísimo y alguna particularidad.
Primero el bus paró en La Paz, aún dentro de Mendoza, y una vez que pasó el Arco del Desagüadero, empezó a adentrarse en San Luis.

Muy cerca a la ciudad, el paisaje empezó a cambiar y las sierras empezaron a destacarse al costado de la ruta. Mientras Mendoza presenta montañas altas, pertenecientes a la Cordillera de Los Andes, San Luis ya muestra ondulaciones más suaves en su geoforma.

Mendoza además se encuentra a casi 800 metros sobre el nivel Del Mar, es decir que siempre estás a esa altura mientras estés en Mendoza. Y San Luis empieza a entrar en la depresión del este. Aunque está a casi 700 metros sobre el nivel Del Mar, ya se observa en su paisaje el cambio del perfil topográfico.

Bus stations

You might wonder why I'm going to talk about this, and it's because the terminals caught my attention. For some strange reason I didn't take pictures of the Mendoza terminal (probably because it was 6 am and I was half asleep, hehe), but they are remodeling it and it is looking beautiful.

The San Luis bus terminal, on the other hand, is a beauty, it caught my attention because it was extremely neat, had striking details, and even had an electric ramp to go up to the second floor. The Café Martinez, an Argentine icon that left Mendoza, awaits you at the terminal as soon as you get off the bus, and the order inside is extremely attractive to look at and to be there.

Gaby was going to pick me up, and while I was waiting for her, I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the facade. A dream too. It was quite windy (cold), so I quickly entered the building as it was so strong that it made tears run down the sides of my face, hehe. But I was able to contemplate it, and it is as impressive as the terminal is inside.

Terminales de ómnibus

Podrían preguntarse por qué voy a hablar de esto, y es que las terminales llamaron mucho mi atención. Por algún extraño motivo no tomé fotos de la terminal de Mendoza (seguramente porque eran las 6 am y estaba medio dormida, jeje), pero la están remodelando y está quedando preciosa.

La terminal de ómnibus de San Luis por su parte, es una belleza, llamó profundamente mi atención porque estaba extremadamente prolija, tenía llamativos detalles, incluso contaba con una rampa eléctrica para subir al primer piso. El Café Martinez, un ícono argentino que se fue de Mendoza, te espera en la terminal ni bien bajas del bus, y el orden que hay dentro es en extremo atractivo a la vista y al estar allí.

Gaby me iba a buscar, y mientras la esperaba, aprovehcé para tomar algunas fotos de la fachada. Un sueño también. Corría bastante viento (frío), por lo que rápidamente ingresé al edificio ya que era tan fuerte que hacía que me corrieran lágrimas por los costados del rostro, jeje. Pero pude contemplarlo, y es tan impactante como es la terminal por dentro.

City of San Luis

While Gaby was driving me to her house, where I would stay with her and her boyfriend for 2 days, I took the opportunity to take some shots from the car, of the beautiful city of San Luis.

The truth is that it is a province that we could say is simple in what it offers, but it has made such a good use of the landscape resources and the infrastructure is so perfectly placed in the environment, that it offers a harmony that I have not seen elsewhere in Argentina.

I do not know absolutely all the country, but of the cities I have visited, I must highlight San Luis as one that is noticeably oriented to the citizen, to the person. It is as if the quality of life starts at sight, and from everything I have been told, it offers higher salaries than many other provinces in the country.

Ciudad de San Luis

Mientras Gaby me llevaba a su casa, donde me quedaría con ella y con su novio durante 2 días, aproveché para hacer unas tomas desde el auto, a la hermosa ciudad de San Luis.

La verdad es que es una provincia que podríamos decir es sencilla en lo que ofrece, pero se ha hecho tan buen uso de los recursos paisajísticos y la infraestructura está tan perfectamente colocada en el entorno, que ofrece una armonía que no he visto en otra parte de Argentina.

No conozco absolutamente todo el país, pero de las ciudades que he visitado, debo destacar a San Luis como una que se nota que está orientada al ciudadano, a la persona. Es como si la calidad de vida empezara desde la vista, y por todo lo que me han comentado, ofrece salarios más altos que muchas otras provincias del país.

Finally we arrived at Gaby's house, which is 10 minutes away from the terminal, but is within a mountain range, so she herself enjoys an almost natural exquisite landscape every day, while only 10 minutes away she has the rest of the city at her fingertips.

Finalmente llegamos a la casa de Gaby que queda a 10 minutos de la terminal, pero está dentro de una sierra, por lo que ella misma cada día disfruta de un paisaje casi natural exquisito, mientras que a tan solo 10 minutos tiene el resto de la ciudad a su alcance.
