The Spice Bazaar, Hagia Sophia and The Blue Mosque / Mısır Çarşısı, Ayasofya ve Sultanahmet Camii (Eng-Tr)

I hope you are well, trying to be well. With a few new events in my life, one of the most important of which I mentioned in this post and the other in this post, I thought it would be impossible not to go to the Spice Bazaar, which is my assignment topic, while I was so close to it.

Of course, while doing this, it was as if we went on a tour with Nabi. I heard the sounds of Nabi's wings flapping in those beautiful places where my whole childhood passed.

These are as follows;

• Spice Bazaar

• Hagia Sophia and

• The Blue Mosque.

I travelled about 3.5 hours for this route, which normally takes about 2.5 hours, because we almost had an accident because of a bloody herd. Isn't it great? But luckily I'm fine. Nobody got hurt. I've already had my daily dose of danger.

When we take into account the famous Istanbul traffic, I may have suffered a total of 6.5 - 7 hours of public transport in total. But this journey became even more beautiful thanks to Nabi. At least my focus has shifted from ridiculous people passing by to a pair of blue wings.

After getting off the famous 303A bus at Haramidere stop, the 145T bus arrived within 1 hour and I reached Unkapanı stop in 1.5 hours. After Unkapanı, you can also use a third public transport, but I preferred to walk this almost 1.5 km route because I had to eat.

In other words, with only 1 transfer and a little bit of walking, I reached the point I wanted very comfortably, even though it was tiring.

The first thing we did was to start a video chat of course 😂 Afterwards, we took a tour around the bazaar building just before entering the crowd of the bazaar.

In the meantime, I took photos of the famous gates for the first time and compulsorily without paying attention to the crowd.

The construction of this bazaar started in 1597 upon the request of Safiye Sultan. The construction was completed in 67 years in 1664 and it was included in the building known as the Valide Sultan Mosque as the arastasi (covered bazaar or bazaar with eaves in front of the shops).

I must say that I was a little surprised when I learnt that this bazaar was built to help the Valide Sultan Mosque financially. Because it seemed strange and at the same time logical that the mother of the great Mehmed III did not want to allocate a budget to manage a mosque and established a system within itself. Maybe if this method was used more often, everything could have been different with the necessary inspections.

As we continued our tour around the bazaar building, we came across 3 more gates. In the past, this bazaar had 6 gates together with the gate connected to the mosque, but now you can enter and exit through 4 gates and the title of the gate in the photo you see above belongs to the main gate. This door is directly facing the Galata Tower. I was even able to take a photo of Galata from this side, albeit of very poor quality, and even showed it to my Nabi.

Then we continued our tour from the left side of the bazaar. On the one hand, I was trying to show Nabi the places where I had spent my childhood. I was even able to show the fountain I had fallen into.

We entered through the gate on the long side of this "L" shaped bazaar. But before that, I took a closer shot to see the name of the gate more clearly.

This door has this name because it is the closest to the entrance of the New Mosque and since this door faces the open area, the crowd was the lightest. It was quite difficult to walk in the crowd trying to keep the phone in my hand safe because even in the first second, some rascal tried to get into the phone. Anyway...

After entering the gate of the New Mosque, I went to the right. I went outside and took a photo of the gate there. Of course, there was no problem on this road except that I stopped in every shop and something caught my attention 🤣

The next gate was Hasırcılar. The reason for the name of this gate is that before the shops changed hands for economic reasons, there were mostly wicker makers in that part of the bazaar. The reasons for the names of all the doors are the same. Because there are more vendors selling that kind of product in that part.

This time I went to the left side instead of the right side, but since this path was a little longer than the right side and I was protecting the phone in my hand with my life, I would lie if I said I didn't have any difficulty. I wondered what Nabi would think after reading this.

I had the sense to take a photo of this door from the inside and the outside. I'm not sure why I didn't go back and do this for the others. Nabi blew my mind again.

It was easier to get out of here than the other exits. It was less crowded. I took advantage of this and immediately headed towards the main gate from the outside. Because we were talking about Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque at that time. And questioning myself why we shouldn't at least see it from the outside when we were so close to it, I started a walk of about 30 minutes.

You can either take the tram or walk this way, but since I don't like to talk too much on public transport, I preferred to walk.

Although it looks like a long way on the map, yes, it is a long way 😂 No, not really. The only problem was my platform heeled boots. Other than that everything was great.

When I arrived, I told Nabi that I couldn't go in. At the beginning, to be honest, I thought that all the entrances were closed for Hagia Sophia, but when we got closer, we saw that it was actually closed only for prayers. But I still didn't want to go in because there was a certain dress code.

But this doesn't mean that I can't take photos at least. Besides, the fountain between Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet provided me the coolness I wanted very easily... It was very sunny. I even had a hard time taking a selfie, I might have even gone blind for a while. It was very bright.

I started by taking a photo of Hagia Sophia and telling Nabi some nonsense.

It seems that the sky was ready for Hagia Sophia. On the other hand, I blame this calmness on the fact that I went on a Monday, because the queue for the museum was much shorter than I thought. In 2018, when I went with my Berceste, I remember that we waited in line for more than 30 minutes.

Afterwards, I lingered a bit and went to the Blue Mosque side, my time was getting shorter. There was a terrible reality like the fact that I would return to Silivri.

While walking the road between Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, a tiny fountain attracted my attention. It had a very aesthetic appearance and Nabi said that he liked it.

After lingering here for a while, we headed towards Sultanahmet but there was a problem; The Sun.

It hurt a lot to be betrayed like this after I had featured him in my writings, but trying to cope with some things was more comfortable than whining, so I tried to take the best photo I could.

Even though the trees and Sun betrayed me, I can say that I did my best. Sultanahmet did not lose anything from its majesty.

Afterwards, I changed my position while I was still talking, so the angle of the photograph changed. I think so, I'm not sure.

Afterwards, we finished our trip by visiting one or two places.

It was quite a fun trip for me. Even this was not our first trip but I think it was better than the other one. I'm not sure, I don't want to say anything for sure without knowing Nabi's thoughts, but this trip was sweeter for me.

It was quite chaotic but also a bit cute. It was a fast paced trip with many falls. I hope we will go on another one soon. Actually, it looks like this will be a trip in Turkey.

Umarım iyisinizdir, iyi olmaya çalışıyorsunuzdur. Hayatımda gelişen birkaç yeni olayla birlikte ki bunlardan en önemli bir tanesini bu postumda, diğerinden ise bu postumda bahsetmiştim, ödev kapsamında konum olan Mısır Çarşısı'na bu kadar yakınken gitmemek olmaz diye düşündüm.

Tabii bunu yaparken bir yandan da doğal bir şekilde gelişerek Nabi ile birlikte bir tura çıkmış gibi olduk. Bütün çocukluğumun geçtiği o güzel mekânlarda Nabi'nin kanat çırpma seslerini duydum.

Bunlar da sırasıyla;

• Mısır Çarşısı,

• Ayasofya ve

• Sultanahmet Camii idi.

Yol için normalde yaklaşık 2.5 saatlik süren bu rota için yaklaşık 3.5 saat yol gittim. Çünkü lanet bir sürü yüzünden az kalsın kaza yapıyorduk. Harika değil mi? Ama neyse ki iyiyim. Kimseye bir zarar gelmedi. Günlük tehlike dozumu da almış oldum sayılır.

Gidiş dönüşle birlikte meşhur İstanbul trafiğini de hesaba kattığımızda toplamda 6.5 - 7 saat kadar bir toplu taşıma çilesi çekmiş olabilirim. Ama bu çile Nabi sayesinde daha da güzelleşti tabii. En azından odak noktam geçip giden saçma insanlar olmaktan çıkıp bir çift mavi kanat oluverdi.

Sol tarafta bulunan öneri ulaşım yollarında bulunan aynı ama daha kısa bir yolu izledim. Meşhur 303A otobüsünden Haramidere durağında indikten sonra 1 saat içinde 145T otobüsü geldi ve Unkapanı durağına 1.5 saate varmış oldum. Unkapanı'ndan sonra ise üçüncü bir toplu taşıma aracı da kullanabilirsiniz fakat ben hemen hemen 1.5 km olan bu yolu yürümeyi tercih ettim çünkü yemek yemem gerekiyordu.

Yani sadece 1 aktarma ve biraz da yürüyüş ile çok rahat bir şekilde istediğim noktaya ulaşmış oldum yorucu olsa da.

İlk önce yaptığımız şey bir görüntülü konuşma başlatmak oldu elbette 😂 Sonrasında ise çarşının kalabalığına girmeden hemen önce çarşı binasının çevresinde bir tur attık.

Bu sırada da meşhur kapıların fotoğraflarını ilk defa ve mecburi olarak kalabalığa aldırış etmeden fotoğraflarını çektim.

Bu çarşının yapımına 1597 yılında Safiye Sultan'ın isteği üzerine başlanıyor. Ve tam olarak 67 yılda tamamlanarak 1664 yılında yapımı tamamlanıyor ve döneminde Valide Sultan Camii olarak bilinen yapının arastası (üstü örtülü ya da dükkânlarının önü saçaklı çarşı) olarak yapıya dahil ediliyor.

Aslında bu çarşının Valide Sultan Camii'ne maddi olarak yardımcı olması için yapıldığını öğrendiğimde biraz şaşırdığımı söylemeliyim. Çünkü koskoca III. Mehmed'in annesinin bir camiyi yönetecek bütçe ayırmak istemeyip kendi içinde bir sistem kurması garip aynı zamanda da mantıklı geldi. Belki bu yöntem daha sık kullanılsaydı gerekli denetimlerle daha farklı olabilirdi her şey.

Çarşı binasının çevresindeki turumuza devam ederken 3 kapı ile daha karşılaştık. Eskiden bu çarşısının camii ile de bağlantılı kapısı ile birlikte 6 kapısı varmış fakat şu anda 4 kapısından giriş-çıkış sağlayabiliyorsunuz ve yukarıda gördüğünüz fotoğraftaki kapının başlığı ana kapıya ait. Bu kapı direkt Galata Kulesine bakan tarafta. Hatta çok kalitesiz de olsa bu yakadan Galata'nın fotoğrafını çekebildim ve hatta Nabi'me de gösterebildim.

Daha sonrasında çarşının sol tarafından gezimize devam ettik. Bir yandan da Nabi'ye çocukluğumun geçtiği yerleri göstermeye çalışıyordum. Hatta içine düştüğüm fıskiyeyi bile gösterebildim.

"L" şeklindeki bu çarşının uzun kısmında bulunan kapıdan içeri girdik. Ama bundan önce kapının adını daha net görebilmek için daha yakından bir kare daha aldım.

Bu kapı Yeni Camii girişine en yakın olduğundan bu isme sahip ve bu kapı açık alana baktığından kalabalığın en hafif olduğu bölgeydi. Elimdeki telefonu güvende tutmaya çalışarak kalabalığın içerisinde yürümek oldukça zordu çünkü daha ilk saniyede bile hadsizin biri telefonun içine girmeye çalıştı. Neyse...

Yeni Camii kapısından içeri girdikten sonra sağa ilerledim. Dışarıya çıkıp oradaki kapının da fotoğrafını çektim. Tabii bu yolda her dükkânda durup bir şeylerin ilgimi çekmesi dışında bir sorun yoktu 🤣

Sonraki kapı ise Hasırcılar oldu. Bu kapının isminin sebebi ise dükkanlar ekonomik sebeplerden el değiştirmeden önce çarşının o kısmında çoğunlukla hasırcıların bulunmasından kaynaklanıyor. Ki bütün kapıların isimlerinin de sebepleri aynı. O kısımda daha çok o çeşit ürün satan satıcıların bulunmasından dolayı.

Çıktığım yerden tekrar içeri girerek bu sefer sağ yerine sol tarafa ilerledim. Ama bu yol sağ kısma göre biraz daha uzun olduğundan ve elimdeki telefonu canım pahasına koruduğumdan bir zorlanmadım desem yalan olur. Nabi bunu okuyunca ne düşünür merak da ettim şimdi.

Bu kapının hem içeriden hem de dışarıdan fotoğrafını çekmeyi akıl edebilmişim. Neden dönüp de diğerlerine bunu yapmadığıma çok da emin değilim. Nabi aklımı başımdan aldı yine.

Buradan çıkmak diğer çıkışlara göre daha kolaydı. Daha az kalabalıktı. Bunu fırsat bilip hemen dışarıdan ana kapıya doğru ilerledim. Çünkü o sırada Ayasofya ve Sultanahmet Camii'nden bahsediyorduk. Ve o kadar yakınına gitmişken neden en azından dışarıdan görmeyelim diye kendimi sorgulayarak yaklaşık 30 dakikalık bir yürüme yoluna başladım.

Bu yolu ister tramvayla isterseniz de yürüyerek gidebilirsiniz fakat ben toplu taşımada çok fazla konuşma yapmayı sevmediğimden yürümeyi tercih ettim.

Haritada çok bir yol gibi görünse de, evet, çok bir yol 😂 Hayır, aslında değil. Tek sorun benim platform topuklu botlarımdı. Onun dışında her şey harikaydı.

Varınca Nabi'ye içeri giremeyeceğimi söyledim. Başlangıçta açıkçası Ayasofya için bütün girişlerin kapatıldığını düşündüğümden öyle söyledim. Fakat yaklaşınca aslında sadece ibadete kapatıldığını gördük. Ama yine de belli bir kıyafet gereksinimi olduğundan girmek istemedim.

Fakat bu durum en azından fotoğraf çekemeyeceğim anlamına gelmiyor. Hem Ayasofya ve Sultanahmet'in arasındaki çeşme bana istediğim serinliği çok rahat bir şekilde sağladı... Çok güneşliydi. Hatta selfie çekerken oldukça zorlandım. Bir süre kör bile olmuş olabilirim. Çok parlaktı.

İlk önce işe Ayasofya'nın fotoğrafını çekerek ve Nabi'ye saçma sapan şeyler anlatarak başladım.

Gökyüzü Ayasofya'ya hazırlık yapıyordu anlaşılan. Bir yandan da bu kadar sakin olmasını bir pazartesi günü gitmiş olmama bağlıyorum. Çünkü müze sırası düşündüğümden çok daha kısaydı. 2018 yılında Bercestem ile gittiğimde 30 dakikadan fazla sıra beklediğimizi hatırlıyorum.

Sonrasında biraz oyalanarak Sultanahmet Camii tarafına geçtim. Zamanım kısalıyordu. Silivri'ye döneceğim gerçeği gibi korkunç bir gerçek vardı.

Ayasofya ve Sultanahmet Camii arasındaki yolu yürürken dikkatimi minik bir çeşme çekti. Oldukça estetik bir görüntüsü vardı ve Nabi de beğendi dediğine göre.

Burada biraz oyalandıktan sonra Sultanahmet'e doğru yol aldık fakat bir sorun vardı; Güneş.

Ona yazılarımda yer verdikten sonra böyle bir ihanete uğramak çok acıttı ama bazı şeyler ile başa çıkmaya çalışmak mızmızlanmaktan daha rahat gelir oldu bu yüzden çekebileceğim en iyi fotoğrafı çekmeye çalıştım.

Ağaçlar olsa da, Güneş ihanet etse de elimden geleni yaptım diyebilirim. Sultanahmet heybetinden bir şey kaybetmedi.

Daha sonrasında ise konuşmaya devam ederken konum değiştirdim. Hâliyle de fotoğraf açısı da değişti. Sanırım, emin değilim.

Sonrasında da bir ya da iki yere uğrayarak gezimizi bitirdik.

Benim için oldukça eğlenceli bir gezi oldu. Hatta bu bizim ilk gezimiz değildi fakat sanırım diğerine göre daha iyiydi. Emin değilim Nabi'nin de düşüncelerini öğrenmeden kesin bir şey demek istemem fakat bu gezi benim için daha tatlıydı.

Oldukça kaotik ama biraz da sevimli. Hızlı tempolu, birçok kere düşmeli bir geziydi. Umarım kısa zamanda yeni birisine daha çıkarız. Aslında bu Türkiye'de bir gezi olacak gibi görünüyor.
