Albury is one of these unusual twin towns lining the border between New South Wales and Victoria. Albury is the slightly more affluent part of the twin, and it sits just on the New South Wales side of the Murray River, whilst its twin is Wadonga which sits on the Victorian side. I'm not entirely sure what led to the different outcome of wealth between the two twin towns, but someone explained to me (not sure if it is right....) that it was due to the legalisation of poker machine gambling on the New South Wales side of the borer, which led to higher revenue for the pubs on the Albury side... draining the wealth from the punters on the other side of the river?

Anyway, when you are driving up to Sydney from Melbourne (or vice versa), this is a decent enough place to stop to break up the trip... we managed to pick up a last minute room booking at a steep discount when we stayed here. Sometimes, you do get a little surprise for procrastination!

We did arrive quite late in the day... it was after dark. The next morning I snapped this shot of the restaurant at the gold club part. The next time we do this, we will have to arrive much earlier... the menu for the restaurant looked pretty good!

Looking up into the resort area, you have about 10-15 small ground level apartments. Pretty much everyone that we saw was travelling between states, so checking in late-ish... and then everyone leaving early in the morning.

The main room of our apartment was dominated by this double bed, along with a small kitchenette and an ensuite bathroom. Nice and clean, and quite well maintained! Some of these travel lodges can be a bit dingy, but not in this case!

... and there was a small room off the main area for the two kids beds.

A great view out the window... and apparently, the gold course is pretty decent as well. Well, if I had time... and if I was able to play golf, I might have had a try. But unfortunately, we used this rest inn in the manner that it was intended... late check-in, and an early morning start on the way to our final destination!

Great stop off, pity you never had time to explore, perhaps next time.

Small bungalow accommodation clean and tidy, golf course would have made an interesting place to take a walk around. I don't play the game but enjoy their grounds normally.
