Ibis Sydney Airport: Sydney, AUSTRALIA
Sometimes, I just need a place that is clean and has a bed for me to crash into for an overnight stay between projects... and in this case, I was driving into Sydney from a concert in regional NSW (Bathurst) in the evening... and I just needed a place to splatter into after dumping the car so that I could sleep before an early morning international flight the next day.
... and these Ibis airport hotels are just the thing. Nothing fancy, not crazily expensive... and you can opt NOT to have breakfast (which I wouldn't be eating as I would have to leave early).
I used to use these places quite often when I was travelling and working around Europe... but not so much in Australia.
The big drawcard for this particular Ibis was the dedicated airport shuttle for just 12 dollars. Running on a regular schedule as well... so, no need to worry about booking an Uber or taxi! Everything all handled the night before upon checking in. Perfect!
... and upon entering this Ibis... well, it is obvious that they are all done up in exactly the same style all around the world! Very recognisable...
... with a distinct cheap and cheerful aesthetic.
One this that I LOVED about the Ibis chains in Europe were the Spanish potato tortillas for breakfast... I doubt that the Australian versions would have the same... but next time, I would try the breakfast just to see... if they have them... I will ALWAYS buy the breakfast option!
So, the rooms are tight and nothing fancy... but really, if you are just staying a handful of hours... you don't need anything more than this!
... and the bathroom is the same plastic decor that reminds me of a university dorm communal bathrooms that I used to stay in when I was studying.
And the view... well, at least it wasn't the runway!

Looks like a nice place to just hang out while you are waiting. My wife and I have started to stay in more hotels like that when we know we are just going to be in town for a night or something like that.
Yeah, you just need a decent clean room and bed... it is only for a few hours, so anything fancier is just a way to burn money.
Sadly these days even the cheap hotels are super expensive!

Every time I see hotels like this all I can think is how the corridors seem to be exactly wide enough to meet accessibility requirements XD
It does look cheap and cheerful :)
Haha... do you mean the minimum exact requirements and nothing more?
Box ticked?
Yeh I reckon if you ran a tape measure over it would be exactly 1m wide XD Or maybe 1.2.
