Ah, Australia is currently "suffering" from a glut of mangoes... apparently, it was a crazily good growing season in the north and there are just too many mangoes being shipped down south. This is perfect for us in our first full summer in Australia, as we have suffered with the pale European versions of mangoes during our time in the Netherlands. Our poor kids haven't really grown up with the sweet sweet juiciness of tropical mangoes... and they have only known those horrible ones that generally end up being cooked. Honestly, this has been one of the big things about moving back to Australia... so much great fruit and meat on offer!

Anyway, I was at the market earlier in the week and picked up this tray of twenty ripe mangoes for just 20 dollars! Sure, we would have to eat or use them quickly... but the kids and I are just devouring these things... plus, I want to make mango and coconut jelly. And we are using them in smoothies, and my wife going to be making a mango lassi as well! Is it possible to have too much mango? Not yet...

Unfortunately, I've been cooped up in the bedroom for the last couple of days... not sick, but heads down completing a stupid Masters of Education assignment. I can't tell you how much I hate doing it... but it nearing completion... I just have to record a presentation, and I have the script all written out now. The trick is to try and get it within the required timing... on the other hand, I have given up caring... so, I'm just going to let it go overtime. I love how the Education degree has sucked out all my interest in teaching at a school!

Anyway... I had come out of the bedroom for a little bit of a breather... first, I just played some music with my wife. Ah... that is quite nice to do, just reading things on the violin and harpsichord! She is learning to do figured bass on the harpsichord, and so it is nice to play... quite honestly, she is already better than most of the harpsichordists I know, if only she could believe that herself.

But afterwards... she showed me a little surprise! She had made MANGO ICE CREAM! OMG OMG OMG!!!!!

Her Aunt had moved to the United States just after we had arrived, and they gifted us so much nice furniture and cooking appliances. Which was handy, as we had sold or donated much our stuff in the Netherlands (and the different plugs would have been a pain in the arse). One thing that they had given us was an ice-cream maker... and it was something that we had all forgotten about, hidden in a box somewhere. But my wife discovered it sometime in the last couple of days, and decided to make a little treat for everyone!

Wow... home made ice-cream is really the best... no more buying it in the store! I love my wife! This has put a smile back on my face after dealing with that crappy assignment... now, to knock it off and complete it... then submit and stop thinking about it!
