RogueTech: Bengy's Maurauder's (AAR #003)

The Maurauders finally reached the intersection of Clan and Inner Space that was marked by the Treaty of Tukkyiad. The company has set up shop on the green half skull of Tomans and I expect that this will be a long stay as we use the opportunity to upgrade our existing roster of Mechs and bolster them with Clan technology taken from the battlefield salvage and the various black market stores.

There are the occasional sightings of heavier Mechs that have been targeted for assassination missions... the sheer need to take these down quickly with massed firepower means that very little of the chassis survives... but the bits that do are stashed away in the hope that we will soon be able to field our first heavy/assault class Mech.

Some of the Solo and Duo Duels are proving to be simple C-Bill collection missions... the lighter Mechs that take the field are surprised to be met with a single vehicle instead of an opposition Mech... however, this is a vehicle that has a decent armour protection, and packs a stupendously large wallop with an AC20 main gun, and a huge battery of Streak-SRMs and a few lasers in addition.

A single Alpha Strike from this tank shreds their Mech completely!

The store is proving to be a great source of black market high tech goods as well... even if it is a touch on the expensive side of things compared to just shredding Mechs on the battlefield! For instance, these Clan Pulse lasers are a great addition to my arsenal... harder hitting and lighter than the standard Inner Sphere variants.

The Marauders have been taking on harder missions... and we have been doing pretty well with the incremental upgrades that we have been able to manage...

... even when we get ambushed and surrounded on what should have been a simple convoy interdiction mission. We got away with a bit of damage and a few destroyed weapon modules... but we shredded those ambushers...

... and we picked up one very very nice piece of battlefield salvage was this half shredded Artic Fox Omnimech. Most of the Left Side of the Mech was pulverised, but the bulk of it was left intact after the pilot ejected rather than facing another Typhoon Alpha strike!

This is a light Mech that will be able to take the place of the Commando that is serving Electronic Warfare duty... and being an OmniMech it can also serve double duty as a carrier for the Battle Armour units so that they won't be left behind and out of the fight.

A crucial decision was made to thin out the reserve Mechs in order to collect a few more C-bills to fully upgrade the active battle lance. The reserve damaged Clint was sold, and the Commando was stripped and sold as well. Meanwhile, the Arctic Fox was fully refurbished and pressed into service as the light EW Mech of the drop lance.

The vehicle bay remains the same... a single killer Typhoon that is racking up more kills than any of the Mechs!

Meanwhile, the Battle Armour section has been a bit decimated... the Artic Fox means that the powered infantry are getting to the battle much quicker... which has meant that they are often in the thick of the battle, bringing down Mechs... ripping their legs out from underneath them. However, collateral spray from an Alpha Strike did hit these guys... which put the pilot in the Med Bay for the next half a year... and did some serious damage to the Armoured units... sigh, lots to repair, and I will have to source new BA weaponry.

Thankfully, I was able to recruit another BA pilot... and reconstruct an Inner Sphere variant of the Battle Armour. Sadly, no jump jets... so, it will need to use the Omnimech as transport, but it will need to one of the units refitted with some weaponry.

... but it was all worth it. The Hector has been refitted with an XL Fusion core which ended up saving a huge amount of tonnage... which then meant that it could be jam packed with some seriously heavy weaponry! 2 Clan LBX-5s, a Large Pulse Laser, a Snub Nosed PPC... complemented with an Anti-Missile System and a battery of Machine Guns to help keep the machine surviving the battlefield.

The Dervish has also been upgraded to be a vicious close in Streak Missile Boat... with a back up pair of pulse lasers. It doesn't have any longer ranged weaponry, but it has the speed to close the range pretty fast... I just need to find some Stealth Armour to help with surviving that distance!

I'm still at a bit of a loss as to what to do with this Assassin... it doesn't hit hard, and it doesn't really fill any other niche other than being an annoying flanker that doesn't quite have the ability to do more than distract. It has been upgraded with Clan weaponry, but it doesn't have much leftover tonnage for weapons or armour... so, it might need an XL engine to free up that weight.

The Artic Fox on the other hand, is smaller lighter and is equipped as an EW platform with the ability cart Battle Armour at speed around the battlefield... and then also packs a punch with an array of small ER and Pulse lasers. Yep, definitely that Assassin will be the first to be dropped from the drop lance.
