The Milky Way Rising Over The 12 Apostles

Back in may, I set out to capture the milky way rising over the 12 apostles.

Because of the location of the 12 apostles, it is not possible to get the milky way over the 12 apostles, unless it is horizontal and later within the year.

However, I did not want to get that shot and instead I went through about 10 minutes of shrub to get the edge of the cliff facing the other direction.

This position allowed me to capture the milky way as it rose directly over the 12 apostles with a totally unique shot I have not seen anywhere else on the internet.

This is a re edit of my original image, as I learnt some new processing tips to be able to bring out heaps more detail in the milky way core,

This is made up of a 3 min exposure for the foreground, and 20 images stacked for the sky at 30s.

I'm not sure if anyone who reads this will be interested in a tutorial on how I edited this, but please let me know if you are and I am more than happy to put one together :)

I'm also planning on making this an NFT very soon, so if you are into that type of stuff, please comment and I can get you some more details on it :)

Thanks for reading!

Man this is special! I've always been fascinated by this area. I hope it's some place I get to see with my own eyes at some point.

Thank you Dan! It definitely is special and I’m extremely lucky to live so close by that I can go down and get photos like these :)
