Dear readers and friends, it is a pleasure for me to present this post containing the visit that I made on Thursday the 6th at night and Friday the 7th during the morning of Holy Week, in April 2023, to 7 Catholic churches located in Greater Caracas, Venezuela.
Estimados lectores y amigos es un placer para mí presentarles este post contentivo de la visita que hiciera los días jueves 6 por la noche y viernes 7 durante la mañana de la Semana Santa, en abril del 2023, a 7 templos católicos ubicados en la Gran Caracas, Venezuela.
This visit is made by Catholics in most Latin American countries as a commemoration of the Way of the Cross that Jesus Christ suffered during those days, 2023 years ago. This practice, originating in Rome in the 16th century, has spread to almost all of Catholic Christianity. In the case of Latin American countries, this practice dates back to colonial times, when the indigenous peoples were catechized by the Catholic Church and means the accompaniment of the faithful to Christ during the night of his capture until the moment of his death in the cross.
Esta visita es realizada por los católicos en la mayoría de los países latinoamericanos como conmemoración del vía crucis que sufrió Jesucristo durante aquellos días, hace 2023 años. Esta práctica originaria de Roma, en el siglo XVI, se ha extendido a casi toda la cristiandad católica. En el caso de los países latinoamericanos esta práctica se remonta a la época de la colonia, cuando los pueblos indígenas fueron catequizados por la iglesia católica y significa el acompañamiento de los fieles a Cristo durante la noche de su captura hasta el momento de su muerte en la cruz.
The visits are made mainly on Holy Thursday night when the churches remain open to receive the parishioners, who come to pay homage to the Redeemer and show the faith that overwhelms them.
Las visitas se realizan fundamentalmente el jueves santo por la noche cuando las iglesias permanecen abiertas para recibir a los feligreses, quienes acuden a rendir homenaje al redentor y dar muestra de la fe que los embarga.
Let us remember that, according to Christian tradition, during Holy Thursday the last supper of Christ with his apostles is commemorated, feet are washed as a symbol of humility, the practice of the Eucharist begins (current day of priesthood), at which time Christ offered bread and He came to his disciples, to finish moving to the Garden of Olives in order to pray before the Roman authorities decreed his crucifixion and death on Good Friday.
Recordemos que, según la tradición cristiana, durante el jueves santo se conmemora la última cena de Cristo con sus apóstoles, se realiza el lavado de pies como símbolo de humildad, se inicia la práctica de la eucaristía (día actual del sacerdocio), momento en el cual Cristo ofreció pan y vino a sus discípulos, para finalizar trasladándose al Huerto de los Olivos a fin de orar antes de que las autoridades romanas decretaran su crucifixión y muerte el día viernes santo.

First church (Santa Rosa de Lima Parish, in the urbanization of the same name): here the path traveled by Jesus is remembered from the place where he had the last supper from where he left for the Olive Orchard, there he prayed and sweated blood.
Primera iglesia (Parroquia Santa Rosa de Lima, en la urbanización del mismo nombre): aquí se recuerda el camino transitado por Jesús desde el lugar donde realizó la última cena hasta al Huerto de los Olivos, allí oró y sudó sangre.
Second church (Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Las Mercedes): time to meditate on the journey from the Garden of Olives to the house of Annas, high priest, who interrogated and slapped him.
Segunda iglesia (Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en las Mercedes): momento para meditar sobre el trayecto recorrido desde el Huerto de los Olivos hasta la casa de Anás, sumo sacerdote, quien le interrogó y abofeteó.
Third church (Church of the Holy Trinity, in Prados del Este): where the path of Jesus to the house of Caifás is recalled, where he received all kinds of insults, spit, insults, and suffered pain during the night.
Tercera iglesia (Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad, en Prados del Este): donde se rememora el camino de Jesús hasta la casa de Caifás, donde recibió todo tipo de improperios, escupitajos, insultos y sufrió dolores durante la noche.
Fourth Church (Our Lady of the Pillar Church in Santa Fe): place for reflection on the presence of Jesus before the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, where false testimonies were given to him.
Cuarta Iglesia (Iglesia Nuestra Señora del Pilar en Santa Fe): lugar para la reflexión sobre la presencia de Jesús ante el gobernador romano, Poncio Pilatos, donde le levantaron falsos testimonios.
Fifth church (Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Cumbres de Curumo): here the spiritual accompaniment of Jesus Christ is made in his appearance before King Herod to be insulted.
Quinta iglesia (Iglesia la Ascensión del Señor en Cumbres de Curumo): aquí se hace espiritualmente el acompañamiento a Jesucristo en su comparecencia ante el rey Herodes para ser injuriado.
Sixth church (Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish in La Trinidad): Propitious moment for meditation on the second presentation before Pontius Pilate to be crowned, mockingly as king, with a crown of thorns and sentenced to death.
Sexta iglesia (Parroquia Santo Tomás Apóstol en La Trinidad): Momento propicio para la meditación sobre la segunda presentación ante Poncio Pilatos para ser coronado, burlonamente como rey, con una corona de espinas y condenado a muerte.
Seventh church (Holy Family of Nazareth and Saint Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer Parish in La Tahona) : In this last temple visited, the journey of Jesus from Pilate's house to Mount Calvary is remembered, carrying the cross on his back, his suffering before his death and the transfer to the tomb.
Séptima iglesia (Parroquia Sagrada Familia de Nazaret y San Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer en la Tahona): En este último templo visitado, se recuerda el recorrido de Jesús desde la casa de Pilatos hasta el Monte Calvario, portando la cruz a cuestas, su sufrimiento antes de su muerte y el traslado al sepulcro.
