All of Us Are Dead (Webtoon) (ENG/SPA)
Hello, internet people! Today I want to give you my opinion about the comic book All of Us Are Dead, of which there is a series on Netflix (very good adaptation by the way) and of which I already did a review.
¡Hola, gente de internet! Hoy quiero darles mi opinión de la historieta de Estamos Muertos, de la cuál existe una serie en Netflix (muy buena adaptación por cierto) y de la que ya hice una review.
The truth is that I haven't finished reading the comic yet, but I'm quite advanced. There are noticeable differences and quite a lot, but let's say that the essence of each event is present in the series which is quite good.
La verdad es que aún no he terminado de leer la historieta, pero sí voy bastante avanzada. Hay diferencias notorias y bastante, pero digamos que la esencia de cada evento está presente en la serie, lo que es bastante bueno.
The first thing I have to say is that the design of the characters or the drawing style is not to my liking (it is something that is not relevant but I have to mention) I feel that the colour palette is very reddish and the faces of the characters (especially the female ones) are very hard, however as I said it is the least of it, because the story as well as the composition of the drawings is impressive.
Lo primero que tengo que decir es que el diseño de los personajes o el estilo de dibujo no es de mi agrado (es algo que no es relevante pero que tengo que mencionar) siento que la paleta de colores es muy rojiza y los rostros de los personajes (sobre todo los femeninos) son muy duros, sin embargo, como dije, es lo de menos porque la historia, así como la composición de los dibujos es impresionante.
The story is set in Hyosan, South Korea, where a strange disease (of unknown origin) spreads through the city from the main high school. The main symptoms are: discharge of blood from the mucous membranes, red eyes, aggression and voracious appetite (technically zombies) so our protagonists and antagonists have to do what they can to survive.
La historia se desarrolla en Hyosan, Corea del Sur, donde una extraña enfermedad (de origen desconocido) se extiende por la ciudad desde la escuela secundaría principal. Los síntomas principales son: secreción de sangre por las mucosas, ojos rojos, agresividad y apetito voraz (técnicamente zombies) de modo que nuestros protagonistas y antagonistas tienen que hacer lo posible por sobrevivir.
Something that All of Us Are Dead explores, and that The Walking Dead series also does, is that the living are far more dangerous than the dead themselves, although in All of Us Are Dead this goes a little further (I won't explain it to avoid spoilers) and that detail gives a chilling bonus to both, the comic and the series.
Algo que explora Estamos Muertos y que también hace la serie The Walking dead, es que los vivos son mucho más peligrosos que los mismos muertos, aunque en "Estamos Muertos" esto va un poco más allá (no lo explicaré para evitar los spoilers) y ese detalle le da un plus escalofriante tanto a la historieta como a la serie.
It is not easy to transmit terror in a book and although a comic book has it a little easier because of the drawings since it can better express an idea, it is still difficult to achieve, however, the artist behind this comic book does it very well, the truth is that when you read it you can feel the tension, anxiety, fear and stress of its main characters, at all times you feel in tension and the narrative is so good that even when the end of an episode is not intriguing, you still want to continue reading.
No es fácil transmitir el terror en un libro, y si bien una historieta lo tiene un poco más fácil por los dibujos ya que se puede expresar mejor una idea, sigue siendo difícil de lograr, sin embargo, el artista detrás de esta historieta lo hace muy bien, la verdad es que al leerlo puedes sentir la tensión, la ansiedad, el miedo y el estrés de sus personajes principales, en todo momento te sientes en tensión y la narrativa es tan buena, que aún cuando el final de un episodio no es intrigante, aún así quieres continuar leyendo.
The character development (so far) is well made, the personalities of each of the students is very strong and despite the fact that the story is mostly focused on one place (the school) it doesn't feel boring or heavy.
El desarrollo de personajes (hasta ahora) está muy bien hecho, las personalidades de cada uno de los alumnos está muy marcada y pese a que en su mayoría la historia se centra en un solo lugar (la escuela) no se siente aburrida ni pesada.
I think the virus is dealt with quite realistically (within the fiction of a zombie virus) and the contingency plans and actions of the students are quite creative, intelligent and successful. One problem I have with this is that the boys' English teacher (who in the series was quite charismatic and responsible for the safety of the children) in the comic has virtually no authority and leaves it up to the children to take the risks to save the day.
Creo que el virus se aborda de una forma bastante realista (dentro de la ficción que supone un virus zombie) también los planes de contingencia y acción de los alumnos son bastante creativos, inteligentes y acertados. Con esto tengo un problema y es que, la maestra de inglés de los chicos (que en la serie era bastante carismática y responsable con la seguridad de los niños) en la historieta prácticamente no tiene autoridad y deja que los niños sean los que se arriesguen para salvar el día.
As far as I'm going I love it, in fact I don't feel that the changes in the series are wrong or that I like the comic book form better, it reminds me of The Walnkig Dead comics regarding the changes, as in the series they were made precisely so that those who read the story couldn't guess everything that would happen or wouldn't get "bored" by foreseeing everything that would happen, so I think both the series and the comic book can be enjoyed in the same way.
Hasta dónde voy me encanta, de hecho no siento que los cambios en la serie estén mal o que me guste más la forma de la historieta, me recuerda a los comic de The Walnkig Dead con respecto a los cambios, ya que en la serie se hicieron precisamente para que quienes leyeron la historia no pudieran adivinar todo lo que pasaría o no se "aburrieran" al prever todo lo que pasaría, así que creo que tanto la serie como la historieta pueden disfrutarse de igual manera.
There are heroes, anti-heroes and some pretty scary antagonists too, I can't wait to finish the comic and watch the series again.
Hay héroes, antihéroes y también unos antagonistas bastante atemorizantes, no puedo esperar para poder terminar la historieta y volver a ver la serie.

Qué interesante, vi la serie pero no sabía que estaba basada en un Webtoon.
¿Se puede leer desde la aplicación? Me parece buenísimo ver los paralelismos, y más sabiendo (ahora) que esta es la versión original, por así decirlo. Me gustó bastante la serie, me gustaría leer este comic.
Sí, está en Webtoon con el nombre de la serie en español, o sea "Estamos muertos" cada día a las 7pm hay pase libre a 3 episodios, el primero lo lees gratis y los otros dos los pagas viendo un anuncio, después de esos tres como ya dije debes esperar al otro día a las 7pm para poder leer tres más y así sucesivamente 😜

Lovely work you did hear, I haven't seen a comic review here, am glad to, also it's horror isn't it freaking you out at some point, to be quite honest, do you ever imagine being the one in the story fighting the endless amount of zombies, seriously that seems scary knowing they are much and few resources to take them out, thanks for sharing.
