Community Contest #3 All About Readers
Hello, people of internet! I hope you are ok. Today I want to participate in this contest as I am very passionate about reading (not without reason I have several book reviews), so I'm pretty excited about it. I am also very grateful with these initiatives as it is a good way to encourage the habit of reading and also help hivers to create content. So without further ado... Let's get started!
¡Hola, gente de internet! Espero que estén bien. Hoy quiero participar en este concurso ya que me apasiona mucho la lectura (no sin razón tengo varios análisis sobre libros), así que estoy bastante entusiasmada con eso. Además estoy muy agradecida con estas iniciativas ya que es un buen medio para incentivar el hábito de leer y asimismo ayudar a los hivers a crear contenido. Ya sin más preámbulos... ¡Comencemos!
What is your favorite time or place to read?
¿Cuál es tu momento o lugar favorito para leer?
I am not picky when it comes to reading, however, preferably, I like to read in the twilight because it is my favorite time of the day since the sun is not strong but its light and heat are quite pleasant and makes all the places look more beautiful, and I like to be surrounded by nature: a garden or a park. That way, the twilight illumination makes the natural scenery look more beautiful and being outdoors and also at my favorite time of the day, I feel much more relaxed which, in my opinion, makes the concentration much higher.
No soy exigente a la hora de leer, sin embargo de preferencia, me gusta leer en el crepúsculo ya que es mi momento preferido del día ya que el sol no está fuerte sino que su luz y calor son bastante agradables y hace lucir todos los lugares más bonitos, y además me gusta estar rodeada de naturaleza: un jardín o un parque. De esa forma, la iluminación del crepúsculo luce más los paisajes naturales y estando al aire libre y además en mi momento preferido del día, me siento mucho más relajada lo que, en mi opinión, hace que la concentración sea mucho mayor.
What makes you enjoy a book?
¿Qué te hace disfrutar de un libro?
The answer is very simple... what you can learn from it. There are books that do not even seek to inculcate a teaching per se, but simply tell a story, however, I believe that as readers we can learn from them by paying attention to details, for example, the personalities of the characters, their attitudes and virtues is something we can learn from. I feel that learning either grammatically or on a life level is the most valuable thing that books can teach us.
La respuesta es muy sencilla... lo que pueda aprender de él. Hay libros que incluso no buscan inculcar una enseñanza en sí, sino simplemente contar una historia, sin embargo, creo que como lectores podemos aprender de ellos poniéndole atención a los detalles, por ejemplo, las personalidades de los personajes, sus actitudes y virtudes es algo de lo que podemos aprender. Siento que el aprendizaje bien sea gramaticalmente o a nivel de vida es lo más valioso que los libros enseñan.
Do you like to read outdoors, before bed or on the bus on your way to work?
¿Le gusta leer al aire libre, antes de acostarse o en el autobús de camino al trabajo?
The truth is that I can read anywhere, it is enough that the book is good to immerse myself in reading completely, I love good literature, but as I said before, it is more pleasant for me to read outdoors. Although I must clarify that I don't like to read in buses, subways or cars because I have vision problems, with the movement, the letters are mixed and that makes me feel dizzy and sometimes even want to vomit.
La verdad puedo leer en cualquier lugar, basta que el libro sea bueno para sumergirme en la lectura por completo ¡Amo la buena literatura! sin embargo como dije anteriormente, es más placentero para mí leer al aire libre. Aunque debo aclarar que no me gusta mucho leer en buses, metros o autos ya que como tengo problemas de visión, con el movimiento, las letras se entremezclan y eso hace que sienta mareos y a veces incluso ganas de vomitar.
Do you focus on character development, thoughtful messages, or the level of intrigue a plot generates in you?
¿Te centras en el desarrollo de los personajes, en los mensajes reflexivos o en el nivel de intriga que te genera una trama?
I feel that all three are very important characteristics in a book. Having a very good plot with flat characters is terrible because you can't identify with any of them and it doesn't help to have very good characters with a boring plot. My favorite books: Harry Potter, Narnia, Maze Runner, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Picture of Dorian Gray.... have a very good balance in these aspects and it is that kind of literature that I like to consume, that is a 10 in everything.
Siento que las tres son características muy importantes en un libro. Tener una muy buena trama con personajes planos es terrible ya que no puedes identificarte con ninguno y tampoco sirve tener unos muy buenos personajes con una trama aburrida. Mis libros preferidos: Harry Potter, Narnia, Maze Runner, Memorias de una Geisha, El retrato de Dorian Gray... tienen un muy buen equilibrio en estos aspectos y es ese tipo de literatura la que me gusta consumir, que sea un 10 en todo.
