How to Become a Gamer Youtuber (ENG/SPA)
Hello, Internet people! Today I want to talk to you about one of my passions and that is making videos for youtube. As some of you know, I'm a Gamer youtuber, it's something I'm constantly working on to improve and I thought that maybe some of you might find it interesting.
¡Hola, gente de Internet! Hoy quiero hablarles de una de mis pasiones y es de hacer videos para youtube. Como saben algunos, soy Youtuber Gamer, es algo en lo que constantemente trabajo para mejorar y me pareció que quizá a alguno de ustedes les puede resultar interesante
I imagine that when you watch your favorite video game youtuber you haven't stopped to think about all the work that goes into it, because recording yourself and the video game at the same time is not always easy, even more so if you had to use a separate capture machine for example. Part of this post is to tell you how I started and how I work now, and also to tell you in more detail how the result of a video game video is achieved after being edited.
Me imagino que cuando miran a su youtuber de videojuegos preferido no se han detenido a pensar en todo el trabajo que hay detrás, y es que grabarse y grabar el video juego a la vez no siempre resulta sencillo, más aun si tenías que usar una capturadora aparte por ejemplo. Parte de este post es contarles como inicié y como trabajo ahora, además de contarles con más detalles como se logra el resultado de un video de videojuegos luego de ser editado.
At the beginning my pc was not powerful at all, even games like Resident Evil 3 ran slow when capturing them, besides I had no tripod, so to record my voice (as I had no microphone I did it with my phone) I had to pile a lot of books to give height to the cell and reach my face to have a minimally comfortable position to play.
Al principio mi pc no era nada potente, incluso juegos como Resident Evil 3 corrían lentos al capturarlos, además no tenía trípode, así que para grabar mi voz (que como tampoco tenía micrófono lo hacía con mi teléfono) tenía que apilar un montón de libros para darle altura al cel y que llegara hasta mi cara para poder tener una posición mínimamente cómoda al jugar.
I've always thought that the most fun to watch someone playing are their reactions, so I wanted to record myself on video while playing but for lack of tripod I couldn't do it because there was no way to place the phone so that the image would look good and also the phone I had at that time didn't have a good camera, my room doesn't have an even lighting either, so the lack of light didn't help and so I decided to start the channel with just my voice. This was the result: 😂🤦♀
Siempre he pensado que lo más divertido de ver jugar a alguien son sus reacciones, así que quería grabarme en video al jugar, pero por falta de trípode no podía hacerlo porque no había manera de ubicar el teléfono de forma que la imagen se viese bien, y además el teléfono que tenía por aquel entonces no tenia buena cámara, mi habitación no tiene una iluminación pareja tampoco, así que la falta de luz no ayudaba y por eso decidí iniciar el canal solo con mi voz. Este fue el resultado: 😂🤦♀
At the time I was satisfied but I look at it now and I think it's horrible hahaha. The game is very slow, you can hear the static of the recording, the audio is extremely loud compared to the sound of the game... however I did not want to delete them because they serve me to see the evolution that I have had in about a year and a half.
En el momento quedé satisfecha pero lo miro ahora y pienso que es horrible hahaha. El juego va muy lento, se oye la estática de la grabación, el audio está en extremo fuerte en comparación al sonido del juego... sin embargo no he querido borrarlos porque me sirven para ver la evolución que he tenido en cosa de año y medio.
Then, thanks to the Hive rewards I was able to get the computer I have now, an Intel Core 7 8gb, I know it requires at least 8gb more and a video card, but for me, who came from having a super old pc, this was an improvement from heaven to earth. My pc is fast, I can work much faster editing, I can download many more games than the previous one, and that widens my range of possibilities, I also work with another editor but we will talk about that later. Also in my stay in Colombia I was able to buy my light ring (which is a light ring and tripod at the same time, and because of its shape, it generates an even illumination) also a control for my games and my headphones, which help me when playing Survival Horror (my specialty) because the noises sound on the right side, that is to say if the noise comes from the right side, there in the game is the threat. I also got a new cell phone with a better camera. Having these elements, this was the result of my videos:
Luego, gracias a Hive pude obtener la computadora que tengo ahora, una Intel Core I7 de 8gb, sé que requiere como mínimo 8gb más y una tarjeta de video, pero para mi, que venia de tener un pc super viejita, esto fue una mejora del cielo a la tierra. Mi pc es rápida, puedo trabajar edición mucho más rápido, puedo descargarle muchos más juegos que a la anterior, y eso amplia mi abanico de posibilidades, además también trabajo con otro editor pero de eso hablaremos más adelante. También en mi estadía en Colombia pude comprar mi aro de luz (el cual es aro de luz y trípode al mismo tiempo, y por su forma, genera una iluminación pareja) también un control para mis juegos y mis auriculares, los cuales me ayudan al jugar Survival Horror (mi especialidad) ya que los ruidos suenan en el lado correcto, es decir si el ruido proviene del lado derecho, allí en el juego está la amenaza. También obtuve un nuevo teléfono celular con una mejor cámara. Teniendo estos elementos, este fue el resultado de mis videos:
But there was a problem, my headphones needed a Bluetooth usb to connect to the computer, and also, not being used to record me on video, I spoke very quietly and the microphone of the cell phone could hardly pick up my voice, also I spoke very little during the videos, is something that practice made me improve. Shortly after one of my cousins gave me a lapel microphone and I bought the Bluetooth, then finally everything was complete, but before showing you the final result, let's talk about the editors.
Pero surgía un problema, mis auriculares necesitaban un usb de Bluetooth para conectarse a la computadora, y además, no estando acostumbrada a grabarme en video, hablaba muy bajito y el micrófono del celular casi no podía captar mi voz, además hablaba muy muy poco durante los videos, es algo que la práctica me hizo mejorar. Poco luego uno de mis primos me regaló un micrófono de solapa y me compré el Bluetooth, entonces finalmente todo estuvo completo, pero antes de mostrarles el resultado final, hablaremos de los editores.
I used to use Camtasia Studio 8, and although it's not a bad editor, step by step I outgrew it as it doesn't have a very good bank of editing elements, so with the new pc I ended up using Filmora Studio 9 (which I love) however, the audio section of filmora didn't satisfy me and that's why I still use both editors, Camtasia to adjust audio (increase volume and remove background noises) and Filmora for everything else. Now I will show you the process of how I edit the videos:
Antes solía usar Camtasia Studio 8, y aunque no es un mal editor, poco a poco me fue quedando pequeño ya que no tiene un muy buen banco de elementos de edición, es así como con la nueva pc terminé utilizando Filmora Studio 9 (el cual amo) sin embargo, la sección de audio de filmora no me dejó satisfecha y es por eso que aún utilizo los dos editores, Cantasia para ajustar audios (subir volumen y eliminar ruidos de fondo) y Filmora para todo el resto. Ahora les mostraré el proceso de como edito los videos:
The first thing you must have is an intro, "like and subscribe" videos, social media videos and also a final screen to place at the end of each video (I made mine in canva) except the intro. Throughout my time on Youtube I have had 3 different intro, but my favorite is the one I use now because it is a compilation of the best scares I've had in my gameplays. Once all that is placed in the editor, the video and the capture of the video game are placed. To record the video you need to have a chroma key, this is mine:
Lo primero que debes tener es una intro, videos de "me gusta y subscribirse" también videos de redes sociales y además una pantalla final para colocar al final de cada video (los míos los hice en canva) menos la intro. A lo largo de mi tiempo en Youtube he tenido 3 intro distintos, pero mi preferido es el que uso ahora ya que es una compilación de los mejores sustos que he tenido en mis gameplays. Una vez colocado todo eso en el editor, se coloca el video y la captura del videojuego. Para grabar el video es necesario tener un croma, así es el mío:
For the photo I didn't position myself well because I was thinking of removing the background, but when recording the video you have to be very careful to make sure that only the chroma key is visible around you. Before I used to capture video games with the editors' capturers, but this sometimes brought me technical problems and thanks to a subscriber who told me how to do it, now I capture with the XBOX program for windows 10, and it works great, I can activate it within the game itself, just by pressing the middle button of the controller and it captures very well.
Para la foto no me ubiqué bien porque igual pensaba quitarle el fondo, pero a la hora de grabar el video hay que estar muy al pendiente de que a tu alrededor se vea únicamente el croma. Antes capturaba los videojuegos con las capturadoras de los editores, pero esto me trajo a veces problemas técnicos y gracias a un suscritor que me dijo como hacerlo, ahora capturo con el programa de XBOX de windows 10, y me va de maravilla, puedo accionarlo dentro del mismo juego, solo con presionar el botón del medio del control y captura muy bien.
Once the video is added, as you can see it obviously covers all the content of the video game capture, so we have to cut the image so that neither the white wall nor the bed appear on the screen, and then go to "green screen" to remove the background. Then simply make the image smaller and place it, this would be the result:
Una vez agregado el video, como pueden ver obviamente tapa todo el contenido de la captura del videojuego, así que tenemos que recortar la imagen para que ni la pared blanca ni la cama salgan en pantalla, y posteriormente ir a "pantalla verde" para desaparecer el fondo. Luego simplemente deben hacer la imagen más pequeña y ubicarla, este sería el resultado:
Then what is a bit more complicated: Match the capture with what happens in the video or vice versa. Then add the transitions to subscribe and so on, also add transitions in the cuts, to give a more polished finish to the video, and then just render it to (in my case) add the subtitles before finally uploading it to the platform.
Luego lo que es un poco más complicado: Hacer coincidir la captura con lo que sucede en el video o viceversa. Luego agregar las transiciones de suscribirse y demás, también agregar transiciones en los cortes, para darle un acabado más pulido al video, y luego solo queda renderizarlo para (en mi caso) agregarle los subtítulos antes de finalmente subirlo a la plataforma.

Both Youtube and Hive make me work on what I like, but I must say that thanks to Hive I have had more opportunities to do what I like with better quality and share the process. This post is about the process behind the video of a content creator, and what is not seen with the naked eye, such as how to manage when you do not have the necessary resources and also serves for those who do not have them today to see that step by step you can achieve, and that Hive is a tool not only to obtain these material resources, but also to learn about any topic that will help you with the quality of your work.
Tanto Youtube como Hive me hacen trabajar en lo que me gusta, pero debo decir que gracias a Hive he tenido más oportunidades de hacer lo que me gusta con mejor calidad y compartir el proceso. Este post se trata del proceso detrás del video de un creador de contenido, y lo que no se ve a simple vista, como por ejemplo el como debe arreglárselas cuando no tiene los recursos necesarios y también sirve para que quienes no los tengan hoy vean que poco a poco se puede lograr, y que Hive es una herramienta no solo para obtener estos recursos materiales, sino también para aprender sobre cualquier tema que les ayude con la calidad de su trabajo.

Woww, es increíble lo mucho que han mejorado tus gameplays en cuanto sonido, iluminación y tu soltura hablando. A mi me pasa mucho de que no hablo casi cuando juego. Soy super calladita, pero quiero empezar a grabar gameplays solo grabando mi pantalla y mi voz porque por ahora no tengo el equipo necesario para salir en cámara.

Tu croma es una cartulina o una tela?
El croma es tela, solo que al ponerlo debes ver que quede super estirado, no puede tener ni una arruga ni moverse con el viento porque el resultado no será parejo cuando lo quieras desaparecer
Pasa al principio, a mi también me pasaba ya que no estamos acostumbrados a "hablar con la nada" mientras jugamos, lo bueno es que para cuando vayas a grabarte en pantalla, ya tendrás la soltura necesaria o al menos mucho más que al principio. Suerte con eso ¡si se puede!
