Here I am again this week in the @ladiesofhive contest, ready to answer this week's two questions. These questions help us get to know ourselves and our fellow community members a little better.
Aquí me tienen una semana más en este concurso de @ladiesofhive, lista para responder las dos preguntas de la semana. Estas preguntas nos ayudan a conocernos un poco más a nosotras mismas y también a nuestras compañeras de la comunidad.
1️⃣ Exchange programs are quite popular among students worldwide, but when it comes to establishing a professional or family life, few people imagine living temporarily in another place with a different family. If you had the opportunity to have such an experience as an adult, where in the world would you like to live on exchange for a year, and what would you like to do during that time? How do you envision your host family and your surroundings?
1️⃣Los programas de intercambio son bastante conocidos entre los estudiantes del mundo, pero al formalizar un estilo de vida profesional o familiar pocas personas se imaginan vivir temporalmente en otro lugar con una familia diferente, si tuvieras la oportunidad de vivir tal experiencia siendo un adulto, que lugar del mundo te gustaría vivir de intercambio por un año y que te gustaría hacer mientras tanto? como imaginas tu familia de acogida y tu entorno?
This is something I've dreamed about for a good part of my life, and I haven't given up hope of achieving it, no matter how difficult it may be. I'd love to study Korean in South Korea, to be able to speak the language fluently, express my ideas, and understand it perfectly. Thanks to the wave of K-dramas and K-pop itself, South Korea has been exposed to the world (its culture, its art, and of course, its language), so all of that has fascinated me and given me a tremendous desire to live there while studying the language. I imagine living in a traditional-style house with a wonderful host family, willing to teach me their culture and traditions. Also, since I'm a chef, I'd like to explore the culinary world as well. Meanwhile, since it's impossible for me to go and study Korean there, I'm studying it on my own with a language app called Duolingo, which has worked well for me; at least I've learned the basics. I also have some South Korean friends I communicate with from time to time (in English, and with one of them in Spanish because he lives in Mexico), and they've helped me a lot with my Korean vocabulary.
Esto es algo con lo que he soñado buena parte de mi vida y aún no pierdo las esperanzas de lograrlo por difícil que sea. Me gustaría ir a estudiar coreano en Corea del Sur, poder hablar el idioma con fluidez, expresar mis ideas y entender perfectamente el idioma, a raíz de la oleada de los Kdramas y el propio K Pop, Corea del Sur ha sido expuesta al mundo (su cultura, su arte y desde luego su idioma) así que todo eso me ha hecho sentir fascinada y con unas ganas terribles de vivir en ese país mientras estudio su idioma. Imagino vivir en una casa de estilo tradicional con una familia de acogida maravillosa, dispuesta a enseñarme su cultura y tradiciones, además, como soy Chef, me gustaría también hacer exploraciones en el ámbito culinario. Mientras tanto, como me es imposible ir a estudiar coreano allá, lo estoy estudiando por mi cuenta con una aplicación de idiomas llamada Duolingo, con la cuál me ha ido bien, al menos he aprendido lo básico, además tengo algunos amigos surcoreanos a distancia con los que me comunico de vez en cuando (en inglés y con uno de ellos en español porque vive en México) y ellos me han ayudado mucho con mi vocabulario en coreano.
2️⃣ Do you like celebrating your own birthday? Or are you more of a celebrator of other people's birthdays? What would you like to do for your next birthday?
Te gusta celebrar tu propio cumpleaños? O eres de las que disfruta más celebrar el cumpleaños de los demás? Que te gustaría hacer para tu próximo cumpleaños?
The truth is, I don't usually celebrate birthdays. When I was a child, yes, my parents celebrated all my birthdays, but after I grew up, I never thought it was necessary. My way of "celebrating," if you can call it that, is going out with friends and family, enjoying the warmth of my home. But I don't like big parties. I think the birthday person doesn't enjoy their own party at all; they always have to be attentive to what their guests need. For my next birthday, I plan (God willing and if I can) to go to the beach with my family, enjoy a couple of days by the sea, and forget about the routine for a while.
La verdad es que no acostumbro a celebrar cumpleaños, cuando era niña sí, mis padres celebraban todos mis cumpleaños, pero después que crecí nunca lo creí necesario, mi modo de "celebrarlo" por llamarlo de alguna manera, es una salida con amigos con mi familia, disfrutar del calor de mi hogar, pero no me gustan las grandes fiestas, pienso que el cumpleañero no disfruta nada en sus propias fiestas, siempre debe estar atento a lo que necesitan sus invitados. Para mi próximo cumpleaños planeo (Dios mediante y pueda hacerlo) irme a la playa con mi familia, disfrutar de un par de días frente al mar para olvidar la rutina pro un tiempo.

I really loved reading your post. I think it’s fascinating that you’ve been curious enough to know so many things about the Korean culture and your willingness to immerse yourself in their way of living.
