Recent events in Venezuela have left us all deeply affected—even those of us who suffered nothing more than a scare. Watching those videos and hearing those testimonies makes our skin crawl and leaves us feeling powerless; yet, at the same time, it warms the soul to see so many people helping—and continuing to help—from both inside and outside the country.
Todo lo acontecido últimamente en Venezuela nos ha dejado muy sensibles a todos, incluso a aquellos que no fuimos afectados más allá del susto, pero es que ver esos videos y escuchar esos testimonios nos eriza la piel y nos hace sentir impotentes, pero al mismo tiempo regocija el alma ver que tanta gente ayudó y continua ayudando desde dentro y fuera del país
1️⃣ If given the opportunity, what would you do for those who saved the lives of children or those who never tire of getting aid to the survivors, during the recent earthquake in Venezuela?
Si tuvieras la oportunidad, ¿Qué harías por aquellas personas que salvaron la vida de niños o por quienes no se cansan de llevar ayuda a los supervivientes durante el reciente terremoto en Venezuela?
I believe that medals, statues, and accolades serve no purpose other than to inflate the ego; those who help from the heart know this, and they would far prefer to be supported with better tools and equipment to assist others. That, to me, would be the greatest, most effective, and most useful recognition of their work: spreading information and facilitating the means and resources for more people to join the cause and train in rescue operations. Naturally, this would streamline the logistics for the men and women who have given—and continue to give—their all for the noble cause of serving and helping those who need it most.
Yo creo quelas medallas, estatuas y reconocimiento no sirven de nada más que para engrandecer el ego, aquellos que ayudan de corazón lo saben y en ese sentido apreciarían más que fuesen apoyados con más herramientas equipos para ayudar a otras personas, yo creo que ese sería el reconocimiento más grande, efectivo y útil a su labor, difundir información y facilitar las posibilidades y recursos para que más personas se unan a la causa y puedan formarse en el rescate de personas, obviamente facilitaría toda la logística necesaria para esos hombres y mujeres que lo dieron y lo han dado todo por la noble causa de servir y ayudar a quienes más lo necesitan.
2️⃣ How can we keep the door open for donations from other countries so Venezuela can buy blankets and flashlights for the child survivors who are in a difficult situation?
2️⃣ ¿Cómo podemos mantener abierta la posibilidad de recibir donaciones de otros países...?
Well, there are many organizations handling this; I believe some have even set up GoFundMe accounts, which are great tools for receiving donations from abroad while also allowing for individual efforts to make a difference. For instance, I have a cousin who is a doctor living in Spain; she stays in direct contact with fellow doctors volunteering in La Guaira. They tell her exactly what people need—especially medical supplies—so she has organized with others to either procure the necessary items or send funds. On Hive, we can do this through various initiatives; the goal is to help and not give up—to ensure that time doesn't pass and cause us to forget the people who still need everyone's help.
Bueno hay muchas organizacioones que se están encargando de eso y creo que incluso abrieron cuentas de Go Fund Me y esas son buenas herramientas para la donación que venga del extranjero, al mismo tiempo también suman los esfuerzos individuales, por ejemplo tengo una prima que vive en España y que es médico, desde allá ella mantiene comunicación directa con sus amigos médicos que están prestando sus servicios voluntarios en La Guaira y le dicen directamente cuales son las necesidades que tiene las personas en cuanto a insumos médicos, sobre todo, así que estando en España ella se organizó con tras personas para conseguir lo necesario o para enviar el dinero. En Hive podemos hacerlo mediante iniciativas, el propósito es ayudar y no bajar lo brazos, no dejar que pase el tiempo y nos olvidemos de esas personas que aún necesitan de la ayuda de todos.
