Hello, internet people! Today I want to show you a cover from some time ago by Super Junior, this song as I mentioned is a Cover of the sun of Mexico and icon of Latin America, Luis Miguel. Super Junior for the first time sings completely in Spanish one of Micky's greatest hits "Ahora te Puedes Marchar" and not only that, but they decided to recreate the original video in its entirety. In this post I tell you the details.

Mainly I must remind you that Super Junior is an elite and senior group in kpop, and one of the advantages of reaching that position or level, is to be your own team, that's how they have creative freedom to propose ideas and do their own work, and although it is true that in the end the managers decide if the product comes out or not, they no longer have clash of ideas and the merit of the work goes directly to the members. Knowing this, the first thing we find is a quite present and fresh bass, as well as the sound in general is fresher and updated but without moving away from the original theme, it has quite harmonic background choruses and respects the bits of the song. Let's say they improved in music what was already perfect and that's saying too much. The sax solo stayed exactly the same, except for the end where they did a reinterpretation.

The whole project started with the idea of Super junior leader Leeteuk wanting to make a song entirely in Spanish for their Latin fans, since in their words, outside of Asia, Latin America was their first home. At first he thought of composing a song and working on it in Spanish later, but knowing that it would take much longer, he thought that a cover would be better, especially if they were looking for a Latin American icon, so they could also pay homage to that singer. Once the idea was presented to their friends and after each one's research, the ideas of Yesung, Leteuk and Siwon were put on the table: Yesung proposed Chayanne, Leeteuk Ricky Martin and Siwon Luis Miguel.

After analysing each other's work, they decided to choose Luis Miguel and specifically decided to do "Ahora te Puedes Marchar" because it was a song that although it talked about a break-up with a bad woman, it did it in a cheerful and dignified way, and musically it was very appealing to them. Shindong (music producer and music video director) and of course a member of the band, proposed a remake of the original video where the 8 members (one of them could not participate in the project) would play Luis Miguel separately in each of his phrases, characterised as the singer, using the same camera shots, the same choreography, the same scenes on screen and a location as similar as possible. Given the excitement of the project, the musicians of the band were in charge of the musical arrangements, the rest of the logistics were left to the other members as well as the diction classes to be able to pronounce the lyrics of the song correctly.

The process was not at all easy, as Koreans have a hard time pronouncing Spanish and these men are quite perfectionist, so until they were not satisfied with the pronunciation of each one, they didn't start recording the song. One of the most applauded things about this Cover is the band's pronunciation, since everything they are singing is perfectly understood and nowadays where "singers" who are supposed to speak Spanish are not understood at all what they are singing because they do not modulate, the fact that Korean singers surpass them in this without even knowing how to speak Spanish is amazing, and something that is undoubtedly to be applauded standing up.

On the other hand, Shindong took care that the characterisation was as similar as possible (leaving aside that they are all Korean hahaha) and if we look at the dancers they have very 80's or 90's clothes, even the choreography is the same as in the original video. All the composition is exactly the same, here is a comparison of both videos:

The work took three months to complete, closely monitored by the members in its post-production phase and was very careful not to make spoilers or leaks, so much so that they didn't record their usual backstage footage to prevent images or videos from being leaked to fans. Once the video was released, the internet exploded.

Although there were a few misplaced criticisms treating the group's arduous effort as a "parody", the majority of comments were positive, astonished and happy, as well as admiring them for taking so much trouble to pay homage to Latin American culture and for responding to the request of their fans who wanted to hear them sing in Spanish. Even when they were invited to the Telehit awards, they did their performance, leaving this song for the end with which they ended up winning over the audience, which was not only made up of fans of the group.

What did you think of the cover? It's great isn't it? For this reason and more is that I'm a fan of the band, I love the good work they do and their hard work and amazing talent.

Saludos amiga @bethyjade
