I was born on February 29th. Contest 174. [ENG-ESP]
Hola damas de esta linda comunidad, me gustaría contarles un poco de mi historia, aunque estoy segura que ya en varias de mis publicaciones he comentado que nací un año bisiesto y por tal motivo mi participación en el concurso 174 de esta semana se centrará en el segundo enunciado que dice.
¡2024 es el año bisiesto! Si naciste el 29 de febrero de un año bisiesto, ¿qué te gusta o no te gusta de él? ¿Cómo celebras tu cumpleaños? Si no lo fueras, ¿te gustaría serlo? Cuéntanos por qué lo harías o no, y también cómo lo celebrarías.
Hello girls of this beautiful community, I would like to tell you a little bit of my story, although I am sure that in several of my posts I have already commented that I was born in a leap year and that is why my participation in this week’s contest 174 will focus on the second statement that says.
2024 is leap year! If you were born on February 29 of a leap year, what do you like or dislike about it? How do you celebrate your birthday? If you weren’t, would you like to be? Tell us why you would or wouldn’t, and also how you would celebrate it.
Nací el 29 de febrero de 1984 a las 8:59 pm de la noche, mi mamá cuenta que luego del parto le pidió al doctor que cambiara mi fecha de nacimiento para el 01 de marzo a las 12:00 AM porque en realidad solo eran 4 horas de diferencia, pero el doctor le dijo que eso no estaba permitido, así que me quedé con mi fecha de nacimiento legal.
Nunca olvidaré la primera vez que cumplí años el día exacto en que nací, que fue a mis 4 años. En esa ocasión me hicieron una fiesta y mi tía me hizo una piñata azul en forma de cisne🦢. Estoy casi segura que en algún post conté está experiencia, el caso es que fue increíble y nunca lo olvidaré.
I was born on February 29, 1984 at 8:59 pm at night, my mom says that after delivery she asked the doctor to change my birth date to March 1 at 12:00 AM because there was really only 4 hours difference, but the doctor told her that was not allowed, so I kept my legal birth date.
I will never forget the first time I had my birthday on the exact day I was born, which was when I was 4 years old. On that occasion I had a party and my aunt made me a blue piñata in the shape of a swan🦢. I’m almost sure that in some post I told about this experience, the fact is that it was amazing and I will never forget it.
Toda mi vida la fecha de mi nacimiento ha sido un tema de conversación, hay personas que no se explican cómo celebro mi cumpleaños los años que no tienen un 29 de febrero y me toca explicarles. Durante esos tres años Facebook me felicita el último día del mes que sería el 28 de febrero y muchas personas me envían sus felicitaciones ese día. Pero las personas que realmente me conocen saben que yo celebro el 01 de marzo porque siempre me baso en mi lógica de que nací el día después del 28 de febrero ya sea 29 o 01 de marzo. Esa es mi lógica para no quedarme sin celebración 🥳😁.
No creo que haya algo que me moleste de cumplir años este día ya que de igual manera los años siguen pasando por mí y como dije es un tema de conversación y hasta de broma, porque tengo primos que me dicen que no me voy a poner vieja porque por ejemplo este año apenas cumplí 10 años, aunque eso no sea cierto.
All my life the date of my birth has been a topic of conversation, there are people who can’t explain how I celebrate my birthday the years that there is no February 29th and I have to explain it to them. During those three years Facebook congratulates me on the last day of the month which would be February 28th and many people send me their congratulations on that day. But people who really know me know that I celebrate on March 1 because I always rely on my logic that I was born the day after February 28, or February 29 or March 1. That’s my logic so I don’t run out of celebration 🥳😁.
I don’t think there’s anything that bothers me for having a birthday on this day since the years keep passing me by and as I said it’s a topic of conversation and even a joke, because I have cousins who tell me that I’m not going to get old because for example this year I barely turned 10, although that’s not true.
En cuanto a la celebración, todos mis cumpleaños son especiales, pero SI, claro que me gusta que cada 4 años sea mejor, porque también considero que tengo que esperar 4 años para volver a celebrar el día exacto en el que nací.
Desde que no vivo en casa de mis padres, mi mamá he viajado a mi casa para celebrar conmigo este día el año bisiesto. en el 2020 llegó el 25 de febrero y yo estaba feliz ( por cierto la agarró la pandemia en mi casa y tuvo que quedarse 3 meses). Mi esposo pidió permiso en su trabajo y nos fuimos para la playa toda la familia y luego en casa hicimos carne asada y picamos una torta, fue un súper cumpleaños. Este año, aunque también la pasé muy bien y estoy feliz, mi mamá no pudo viajar ya que mi papá se encuentra enfermo y no lo puede dejar solo.
As for the celebration, all my birthdays are special, but YES, of course I like more every 4 years, because I also consider that I have to wait 4 years to celebrate again the exact day I was born.
Since I don’t live at my parents’ house, my mother has traveled to my house to celebrate with me this day in leap year. In 2020 she arrived on February 25 and I was happy ( by the way she got caught by the pandemic in my house and had to stay 3 months). My husband asked for leave from his job and we went to the beach with the whole family and then at home we made roast beef and ate cake, it was a super birthday. This year, although I also had a great time and I am very happy, my mother could not travel because my father is sick and can not leave him alone.
Para culminar me gusta cumplir años este día, aunque en realidad uno no escoge el día que nace. Todos los años celebro que tengo un años más, aunque me echen broma de que no es así (hasta mi esposo en ocasiones se pone en esas) y hay quienes cuando me felicitan por mensajes agregan que no deberían felicitarme porque no estoy cumpliendo años ese año, pero es una situación divertida para ellos y también para mí.
Este año celebré con mi familia (esposo e hijos) fuimos de paseo, comimos helado y a un restaurante que quería visitar desde hace tiempo y más tarde en casa cantamos cumpleaños feliz comimos torta. En realidad me encantó este cumpleaños, aunque no hicimos algo extraordinario como el anterior y mi mamá no pudo estar, la pasé muy bien y mi familia me hizo sentir muy amada todo ese día. Así que me hicieron feliz en mi cumpleaños 😍.
Finally, I like to celebrate my birthday on this day, although one does not really choose the day one is born. Every year I celebrate that I am one year older, although they joke that I am not (even my husband sometimes comes to that situation) and there are those who when they congratulate me by messages add that they should not congratulate me because I do not have a birthday that year, but it is a funny situation for them and also for me.
This year I celebrated with my family (husband and kids) we went for a walk, ate ice cream and went to a restaurant I had wanted to visit for a long time and then at home we sang happy birthday and ate cake. I really loved this birthday, even though we didn’t do something extraordinaria like the previous one and my mom couldn’t be there, I had a great time and my family made me feel very loved all that day. So they made me happy on my birthday 😍.

Sure, I'm always happy but I think on my birthdays I get touchy and want to be pampered more than usual and this one I felt that way.
