Hello Ladies, in my entry this week for contest #124 I will tell you about my favorite medicinal plant. The malojillo.

The malojillo is also known as limonaria, limoncillo and many other names, it is a plant similar to grass that grows approximately 1 meter high, in the picture you can see me with the malojillo plants that we have at home. This is a plant that requires water and as in my country Venezuela we are in a period of drought that is why it has dry leaves, but in periods of rain it turns a bright green color.

This plant has many medicinal benefits according to mundodeportivo.com , I use it for many of them but I did not know that it was also antiseptic and that I could use it to apply on wounds, that it had properties to help lose weight, to fight infections or the Pylori bacteria. In my case I use it for colds, menstrual cramps, stress, insomnia or just to drink one afternoon as I love the lemon flavor it has.

For the preparation I take the branches including the root, wash and cut into small parts, add water and bring to a boil, turn off and leave covered for 10 minutes. When I make the tea to fight colds I like to add lemon and sweeten with honey, but when I prepare it for insomnia, stress or just to enjoy it, I like to add sugar and sometimes honey as well.

For more than 10 years I have been having a lot of menstrual pains, so when I am in my days I prepare one or two liters of malojillo tea with brusca seeds (this seed has anti-inflammatory properties) and I drink it three times a day, this practice has helped me a lot with my discomfort.

This is my favorite medicinal plant, which I use regularly and in addition to the benefits it provides I love its pleasant lemony flavor. This was my participation this week, if you know these plants and their medicinal properties you can leave me a comment, I will be very pleased to respond.

Thank you for visiting, reading and commenting

It seems that most plants help with menstrual cramps and I've been filling myself with analgesic drugs all this while. If I knew this sooner I wouldn't have done all that.
I'm not sure we have this particular herb around where I stay but I will look in solving my cramp issues the herbal way.

You look splendid in that photo by the way.
Have a nice weekend!

Oh, I imagine it is the same, because I read that it is also known as lemongrass, what I didn't know is that it was also useful for malaria.

Saludos amiga.
