I Almost Lost My Hive Account to a Discord Scam!
Scams have increased a lot these days. Earlier you might have been scammed offline but now it has become much easier to get scammed online than before. Technology is being used very well and they fool people in such a way that people are quite surprised as to how they can be fooled so easily by such tricks. They get your personal information or they have some information about you which gives you some confidence that this person is not fake. Just when you are convinced of this, the problem starts once the camera gets into trouble. But sometimes we get the feeling that we are doing something wrong and as soon as we get to know about this, we must take some action regarding it immediately. Sometimes the scams are very small and we ignore them but sometimes the online scams are very large and we do not understand them. Often, they target people who don't have much knowledge about technology, and yet some of easily fall into their trap.
See now everyone is very smart but sometimes we think that we are smart and no one can fool us and that is why we make mistakes because we become very over confident and that is why we make mistakes. Whenever we do anything online, it is very common for others scam us, we just have to keep ourselves safe. Because you are the one who has the key to your information, this is what happens mostly. But nowadays, from your mobile phone to any electronic gadget you use, a lot of your information is available in it, which can be easily scanned. First of all, never give your personal belongings to any stranger because you do not know how he can misuse it against you.
Well, I have been subjected to so many such scams and I have also taken advantage of some scams xd , maybe I will tell you about that some other time. But the one I am going to tell you about today, it happened to me last year in Discord. There are a lot of scammers in Discord, you should be very cautious. Many people here are impostors, who fool you by stealing other people's identity and if you are not familiar with any of the server people, then you get scammed easily. Although many people try very hard, but sometimes we make some mistakes which we feel bad about later. So it happened with me that I was facing some problem in my Leo interface, so I went to their Discord server to complain about it, as soon as I sent a message there for help, I immediately got a DM from an unknown person. And he told me that you have to follow these steps, after which whatever your problem is, it will be solved.
And that person invited me to another Discord server. At first, I was a little suspicious about everything. But I thought maybe they created a separate server for whatever problems they were facing and then I joined it. When I joined them, there were a lot of people there who were not familiar with them at all. I thought maybe the tech team is different. Then the person send me a link , I also opened the link and asked me to log in there. The website seemed a little suspicious to me and then I took help from chatgpt. I hadn't logged in with any of my keys during that time. Which was a good thing because even opening the website didn't put me at any risk. As long as I didn't use any of my keys or logins, I was safe.
So this was my experience, I mean you can say that if I had made even a small mistake, I might have lost my Hive account and my years of hard work. And I went and spoke to the owner of Leo on DM about this and guess what, he did not react to this which made me even more suspicious and disappointing too. Well, if I wanted, I could post the chat here, but I won't. I don't want anyone's image to be harmed in any way. Anyway, their project is facing a lot of problems, maybe people have forgotten about it or not. I don't know. I would like to say thank you because probably my best profit till now was when the hive was around 0.5 USD per hide. I sold a lot of LEOS back then and at that time the price of LEO was also quite good and if you talk about my return of investment then it was quite good which is why I am thankful for that particular token. Many people invested a lot of money here and they suffered huge losses, some people got out from there but some are still there which is a very sad thing. They always come up with some new project no idea why ?
Look, it is my experience that many people still fall prey to scammers in Discord. I would say that whenever you talk to any person in Discord, first double verify whether it is original or not. If it is original then only you are contacting them, otherwise block them.

The DM landing right after you asked for help in the support channel is the classic move, scammers watch those channels for fresh questions. Glad you never entered a key. Do you keep your posting key separate from active and owner now?

I think sometimes we become careless of miss something important and fail to noitce. I was always alert and in case discord scam I was supposed to be a victim. The scammers were so good that I didn't doubt but when I was filing the documents I even shared my seed word of empty account. I think it's because of my usual habit I don't use my real account in anything. I guess I tried to use my posting key also, but I didn't give the active key as it was related to transaction and subconsciously my brain functioning and stayed alert. I entered my posting key also. But when it came o active key, my mind triggered. I was saved for my habit of not giving input of any important keys to anywhere saved me that day. Realizing that instantly, I locked my hive asset and later I generated a new password. I was surprised how I wasted so much time in the scammig process.

My hosting servers were hacked 2 years ago, with multiple different attacks and hacks... When I laid out the numbers, I realized it's not worth fighting against AI, as it will be worse and worse... At least you didn't enter your keys 😅 I actually did lol and only realized later how risky it was. I still remember how anxious I felt about my account. These scams can really catch us off guard when we're just trying to get some help.

There are so many scammers these days. Good thing you didn’t enter your keys. It’s really suspicious when a website asks you to enter your keys, especially if you’re not familiar with it. One wrong move and you could lose everything you’ve worked so hard for. Some people really rely on scamming others just to make money. It's sad that they choose to take advantage of other people’s hard work instead of earning money honestly.
