A dress made from leftover fabrics

Hello beautiful people, Happy new year!!!

I'm super excited sharing my work with y'all. It's a previlage being here. So last week, going through the community post, I saw a post made by someone (so sorry I can't remember who exactly) on how she made a dress for her daughter from some leftover fabrics.

I was super excited seeing the results she got. So I decided to try something out with some of my leftover fabric.

So I got this piles of fabric from some graduation gowns I made mid last year. I wanted throwing them away but they looked quite big to just throwaway. So I decided to keep them hoping they'll be useful one day and indeed they were.

I was quite limited why styles seeing that they are of different lengths and sizes. I had to crack up my brains and calculate so hard to figure out what to make with them.

I was almost giving up at some point. But just before I'll give up, I figured out something. I decided to use them to make a dress for my kid sister.

Here are the things I used for the dress.

The truth was that, I was not willing to spend money on getting anything new from the market. So I had to work with what was available. When the idea came, I jumped into action immediately.

I took out my pencil instantly and drafted out the pattern for the dress I'll be making.

When I was done drafting, I carved out the pattern, place them on the fabric and cut out as seen above. I did same for the lining as well.

I cut the under part of the dress that is the skirt region which was on fold. I did cut out the front and back piece together.

The skirt would have a gathering under it. This piece here is for it.

I went ahead to join the little pieces together. And as you can see, I'm making progress.

I pinned my fabric to the corset cup I made, and ironed it very well. Ironing is one important factor. When I was done with that, I attached the cup to the top

Went ahead to work on the back piece, make my rope for the loopholes and inserted them, created a pipe to insert my boning.

The gown is almost ready.

It was quite late and I was already tired so I couldn't take more pictures of the remaining processes.

But here is the final looks

She was super excited with her dress. She really loved it and I'm glad I didn't give up on the way.

Thank you all for stopping by. Hope I did a great job with that?
