If you are going to win; you need to keep trying

#### A short story Some months ago, some new house officers started their internship in the hospital where I work.

A lot of them were just experiencing clinical work for the first time.

This meant that they couldn't even do the most basic of things.

So one of them was posted to be on my team and she couldn't do anything and was sad about it.

At a point, she was almost resigning from her duty post.

So I taught her some basic stuff. I made her also do some things.

At first, anytime I tell her to do it she would be angry and sometimes she would shy away from it

I spoke to her and she started attempting.

As expected, she failed brutally for the first few times. As a matter of fact, she didn't get anything right.

She felt like shit.

These failures made her discouraged and she stopped attempting anything...

I went back to motivate her and she started attempting again and guess what?

She got one of the basic things right with my assistance on her first attempt.

Days after, we were both posted to different units and she was meant to be the only one to man the unit.

Some days ago, she spoke to me and told me how she was doing all the procedures and how she was successfully manning the unit.

She thanked me for the constant support and encouragement.

End of story...

A lot of people have had similar experiences where when you start another phase of life, it looks like you can't continue.

I remember when I started steemhive some years back, it was a really annoying process.

But I kept on trying and somehow somewhere I found a way to continue and I started discovering some secrets.

Trying and failing at it gives you one extra way of not doing it the wrong way.

I remember when I started steemhive I wanted to partake only in contests.

When the contest became tougher and rewards started reducing, I was confused and didn't know what to do.
At a point, the rewards were no longer coming again. The usual 11$ from the open mic was not coming.

Everything was reducing until it got to zero.

I learnt that rewards reduce and the only thing that keeps you on the game is the relationship you have kept with the people in the community.

That was one thing I learnt and the next time I came on hive I tried the other approach of making relationships.

A few days ago, I did a video and I didn't get anything from the post and was looking for ways the video would reach a larger population and also more rewards.

I asked a few questions and discovered what I did wrongly.

The best feeling is succeeding after failing a couple of times

When I started hive again, I wanted to write only @stemsocial posts as these posts were the easiest way to get rewards since I was into medicine.

However, my first couple of write-ups were rejected.

I get sad a couple of times. I felt somehow at the curators.

Then one faithful day I made a post on stem social and it got approved. I got a 7$ upvote.

I was overjoyed when I saw that my post was approved.

It was a 10% upvote.

My next aim was to get up to 65% upvote and I got that on 3 or 4 occasions.

Take home point.

Starting anything worth it is usually not easy.

You get rejected sometimes, other times you get frustrated.

At some point, you feel there is no headway but the truth is that you are learning and unlearning some things silently.

In all, keep on trying and trust the process. You will eventually make a headway.

Also remember, if you are going to succeed, you also have to learn what those succeeding are doing.

Also remember, it is better to try than not to try at all.

Finally, those who have succeeded, have failed but they tried again and again before they made headway.

Till then thank you for reading.

I have felt this countless times too. Every time I would study for our engineering exams, I would be drained because I've already studied for so long and I could still not solve some problems. Instead of crying, I just studied more and more up until a point where I could now solve them on my own. Great read!

Those stem social people rejects posts without remorse.. not even an encouragement of any form. I think they ban or mute the post in their community.. I don't quite get it.
To think it takes me days to make a single stem post.. the last one pain me sha, I didn't even make a post for today. Let me kuku focus on other basic things that doesn't require me writing thesis and digging up tons of research just to prove a point.

It's all good.
