MUSIC A to Z Challenge #W Whale, The Walkmen and The Who.

Here is my entry for @psos  A-Z music challenge, today i'm on bands or songs starting with the letter W.

So I find my self on the home run, with the last 4 letters of this challenge lets see if I can go out with a bang. To get things under way i'm going to kick off with a band from Sweden, they first came to my attention in 1993 by way of MTV, their mix of alternative rock and trip hop appealed to me and their debut single was a bit of a hit in Europe but never broke through in my native UK. I got to see them play live at Reading festival in 1995 and their performance on the NME stage was pretty good, with Tricky joining them for a few tunes as he had on their 1st album.

Their career was quite short lived spanning 1992 to 1999 and only achieving two album releases "We care" and "All disco dance must end with broken bones" this is Whale with "Hobo humpin' slobo babe.

This next band hailing from New York City and Philadelphia had a longer career, formed in 2000 it was all over by 2014 although they are officially on a hiatus but after 6 years it looks unlikely they will make any more albums. This low-fi rock band with a love of vintage instruments produced 7 studio albums with a string of stateside hits, less popular in the rest of the world they still had moderate success in the UK. From their 2nd studio album Bows and arrows this is The Walkmen with "The Rat".

Ok so the rule was 2 tracks but iv'e never been one for rules and one of my favorite bands hasn't had a shot yet so with no back story needed this is The Who with "Baba O'Riley" and "Who are you".

That's all folks see you tomorrow.
