When I think about the most inspirational person in my life, the name that comes to my heart is Ayomide Lawrence. He is not just someone I know, but the person who changed my story when life was very hard for me.

After I finished school, I thought things will be better, but it was not so. I spent many years looking for job, but I did not find any. Life became so hard that sometimes I could not even eat two times in a day. I worked as bus conductor on the street of Lagos, I sold bread, and I did many small small jobs just to survive. I was not happy with my life at all. Many times I moved from one place to another, just trying to make a living. What I noticed in life is that, if you don’t have someone to support you or even connect you, it will be very hard to make things happen.

But one day, something happened that I will never forget. I went to my friend’s mechanic workshop, and while I was telling him about my problems, a young man I didn’t know was listening to me. That man was Ayomide Lawrence. He asked me about my life and what I studied in school. I told him I am a graduate of Mass Communication but I had no job. Then he asked me a simple question, “Are you computer literate?” I said yes.

That question changed my life. He asked me to come to his office, and when I went there, he introduced me to freelancing. Not only that, he gave me free training for six months. For good six months, he taught me with patience and care. He showed me Fiverr and other platforms where I can make money online. That was how my story started to change. For the first time in many years, I saw hope again.

This is why Ayomide Lawrence is the most inspirational person in my life. He is not a celebrity or a very rich man, but he gave me something bigger than money. He gave me hope, knowledge, and direction. He did not ask me for anything, but he invested his time to mentor me. He inspired me to believe in myself again, and he proved to me that one person’s kindness can change another person’s life forever.

Because of him, I now like to share my story to inspire others not to give up. I also try in my own small way to help people when I can, because I know what it feels like to be hopeless and then receive help from someone you don’t expect.

For me, success is not only about being strong alone. Sometimes, it is about meeting the right person who will guide and inspire you. For me, that person is and will always be Ayomide Lawrence.
