The Rot Fai Market (Train Market) Bangkok !!
Last Wednesday i took the boat up along the Bangkok river called the Chaophraya River and decided to hop off at the Wang Lung Pier just to take a walk around this area , i had heard there was a market called the Rot Fai Market near Thonburi railway station so i headed off from the pier with destination punched into my google map app of i went.
After walking less then 2 km from the Thonburi pier i had come to my destination google map didn't lie to me this time approaching these markets on this very hot day i could see from a distance that this was no small market outlet.
I have been told that Rot Fai Thonburi Market is probably the biggest fresh market in Bangkok, Thailand and by looking at these sheds i would say so , i haven't seen anything as big as this in Bangkok this market has 3 enormous large sheds and 1 enormous long shed running along the side the other 3 sheds.
This fresh market opens up to the retailers of restaurants , small grocery shops , vendors and also the public if your keen at getting up early it opens at 2 am morning and closes at 10 am morning but then some vendors open up again in the afternoon selling mainly fruits and veggies to the public.
I arrived here in late afternoon so there were only a few stalls still open but i would love to see the atmosphere of all the busy shoppers in this market it would be like walking into a ant farm a real chance to experience a real slice of Thai daily life.
Looking from one end of the shed to the other end of the shed i just couldn't see the other end clear it tells you how huge this market is i could just imagine the noise in these markets as the people are doing there deals.
Rot Fai Thonburi Market is located opposite Thonburi Train Station so you will get a lot of people coming in by train to avoid traffic on the roads they pick up what they need and back on the train which is across the road from the market.
If you just wanted to come here to see all the types of fruits and veggies that Thailand grows it would certainly be a educational experience and when your seen enough there are street food vendors all around the market where you can sit and try some of there cuisines at very affordable prices.
There is nothing here that you can't buy every possible fruit or veggie that Thailand grows ends up in this market including all types of meats and fish.
With over 2,000 vendors in this market i would say coming here early in the morning would be fun, colorful, crazy, crowded, and full bursting with fantastic sights, smells and sounds just how a market should be.

I must say that you get your miles in when you combine #MarketFriday and WednesdayWalk together! That is absolutely awesome and so happy that you brought us to such an amazing place! I love how huge this place is!!
I am so glad that Google Maps didn't lie to you this time! I dropped me off in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night once! I tell you, I called her names I have never used before. At 2am and no service, no lights, no hotels, just an empty highway exit.
Le sigh.
It happens, but, did it have to happen this day? Can you imagine the scene here at 2am when all the vendors are present? I bet it is chaos! But, I will bet it would be the best time ever! I have never seen durians in such amounts and so big! They were pretty huge. All the fruits are amazing there. It cannot be the climate, there are many places with a climate like that. It is over the top goodness that I see from every person that posts from Thailand!!!
I will admit, Thailand and people that visit there put out some of the most awesome posts! Especially the pictures. Honestly speaking, all of Asia is so jaw-dropping beautiful!!
Was that guy trying to take on or take off his motorcycle from the train???? I love their methods of transportation! Whatever will pack the most people! I adore you and your posts! Thank you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to join the challenge! Seriously, that picture with the motorcycle was the best. I am still laughing over it!!! Just thought you might want to know that. LOL I appreciate the love and support you are giving to #MarketFriday! Without you and people like yourself, I wouldn't be able to have such a successful challenge! I know that at this time, it is harder to find something to fit the challenge. On a good day, it takes a lot of time and effort to be part of, so it means a lot to me that you participate. I hope you know that there is great latitude in what Market means. It can be typical of where you shop for food, or it can be a unique place that you visit. Thank you again for being a part of all this and I hope that you will, indeed, have a great day and week ahead! If you or any of your friends are in doubt about how to participate, this should clear it all up!
Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:
How to Participate:
Go to the market! Any market will do! Food, clothing, plant, or animal, if you wish. You can go to the zoo, an art auction, and restaurants. Anywhere or anything that you pay money for any kind of service.
Take pictures! Be creative! It’s fun!
Tell us a little bit about the market, what brought you here?
Post the picture.(s)
Don’t forget to use the MarketFriday Community #196308 to post from or hashtag it! #MarketFriday by @dswigle If you hashtag it, drop the link to your post here so I can easily find them.
As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you! Stay safe out there! Always trust Google Maps! (Not!) I am always happy when they get it right! :)
