Theres all sorts of ways to do NFT drops on Twitter and twitch as well.
Splinterlands used to host the virtual conference @dygycon every other month. The stopped hosting it and now @waffleskitty picked up the event for the community and put together a new event called NFTopia which was really cool last time they had it.
But yeah, lots of ways to get into wax and experience the community without having to spend a lot of money upfront when you're not as knowledgeable about what NFTs to buy
