Take care of yourself regardless of the financial responsibility.

Truth is, I am not even in the right position to be preaching this right now based on the level of stress I put myself through on a daily basis since I have so many financial obligations to meet and it is so important that I cannot even consider any of them as being a minor one right now, and for someone like me, who has just myself to assist myself(lol), I just need to give it all the shot I have. Based on the story I heard today, I had to re-think, and I decided to share the story with you here my friends.

The story was of a young man who is the first child of his family, his family members considered him comfortable enough to bear their family responsibilities (a terrible African tradition), and he worked hard every day to keep up with the numerous bills being thrown at him by family members until suddenly he feels really sick, he was so sick that his entire savings were used to sort out hospital bills, as at the time of the severe sickness, every family member that kept on throwing numerous bills at him were nowhere to be found, he was left with his wife who started to run helter-skelter to save the life of her husband, by the time she had exhausted her savings on medical bills, she tried to reach out to these family members compulsorily and not even one of them turned up for them.

The sad story is, the man did not survive the illness and he passed on, and the wife was left with nothing but memories of how her husband actually gave out almost everything they made to his ever-demanding family members despite her regular caution on his attitude, and now, the little she was even able to save up for herself, had been spent on hospital bills on the man she would never be able to see again.

This terrible African culture of one person having to take complete responsibility for the entire family actually makes no sense to me, but this story was a reminder for me to look out for myself, take rest when necessary, and learn that at the end of the day, I am completely responsible for whatsoever happens to me. So friends, as much as you work make it a habit to take time off to get a good rest, eat well, and remember that at the end of the day, you are completely responsible for whatever happens to you.

Sounds like a wake up call for us all! We tend to neglect ourselves because we have to get things done, but really, it doesn't do any good if we are laid up and unable to get anything done. All things in moderation! Thanks for the reminder. Take care!

I agree with this. This is a reminder for myself.
