The Social Media Trend.
Following up on the unfortunate incident that led to the death of a young promising artist in Nigeria, social media has really been on fire, the name of this artist has been sitting on the trend table with no event happening to shake it, his songs are currently being streamed as number one on the trend table right now, and several comments are coming up following the issue at hand.

The unfortunate incident surrounding the death of the young man makes it a very sad occurrence, and the more reason why so many celebrities and prominent Nigerians are trying to lend their voice on the topic in order to ensure that justice is served. While this is a good thing, there are others who are taking the opportunity to bring down others, which is not really fair.
What this reminds me about, is how strong social media has become, especially as it has become a very strong tool to help people raise their voices concerning a certain occurrence. I remember when some young Nigerians took to the streets to protest against bad governance and unfortunately, the shooting and eventual killing of some young Nigerians happened there, what we remember as the END SARS movement up till date. There was no other way for young Nigerians to lend out their voices except through social media for fear of the spill of more blood.

Social media over and over again has become a strong force of weapon that can be used for either the building up or the pulling down of an individual, a brand, etc. Just a few months ago, we saw a courageous Nigerian young lady who embarked on the breaking of the world record journey, and with the power of social media, Nigerians came out fully to support her both online and on-site. There were people who deprived themselves of sleep for days just like the young lady, she was hyped up and praised with her name trending as the first on social media for days until she was able to come out victorious.
The power of social media has gone beyond just using it to tweet or gain appraisal, it has become a tool for building up and pulling down, although there are people who utilize it wrongly and inappropriately, if used correctly, it can also be a tool to get justice.
