When Effort doesn't Allign with Result. The place of smart jobs.

It is one frustrating thing to have to work extra hard consecutively, day in and out without having any result to show for it, or still not being capable of getting some basic life needs.

I was speaking to a friend who said he would rather not even do a job at all, than taking some type of jobs. Although, I made him understand that certain people completely have no other option and that’s the reason why they opt for such jobs.

We however did some careful evaluation and indeed some jobs are not even worth it at all, and sometimes we must think smart about some jobs before taking them. Let’s evaluate these examples for instance;
Two young fresh graduates who were desperate to get a job, finally got two offers, one was with a salary of 100,000 Naira, and upon calculating the amount he would spend on transportation back and forth from the venue everyday, he calculates he will be spending 70,000 by the end of the month, this leaves him with 30,000 as the balance he has to cover for feeding, miscellaneous, and even days of excessive transportation.

On the other hand, there was a job that offers 50,000 Naira at the end of the month, in this case, there is a provision for free accommodation which is close to his office, so he doesn’t need to pay for transportation. One of the young graduate opts for the job that pays 100,000 Naira because it appears more classy and presentable, while the second person goes for the one that pays 50,000 after carefully considering the available options.

At the end of the year, the young man who had gone for the job of 100,000 Naira turned out to be highly frustrated, and was looking for another offer as soon as he could get one. While the second young man who had gone for the job of 50,000 Naira has been able to save so much to start up his own business.

Upon meeting, the young man who had gotten a higher paying job was surprised at the accomplishments of the other young man who went for a lower paying job. It was then he understood that the guy who had gone for a lower paying job, actually made a smarter choice.

The lower paying job saved him from spending excessively on transportation, and it also gave him the time to get other jobs that were bringing in money, and that’s the reason why he was able to save so much to meet him his goal.

From the eyes of observers, the guy who gets paid more would have been seen as being in a better position, but most times it isn’t even about the type of job done or the hours spent at work, it is more about smartness and proper calculations carried out.
