It's a lovely and beautiful day out here and I'm glad to bring to you this beautiful outfit I made for my guardian that I usually called mummy as a gift for the first Sunday of the year thanksgiving in church.

There are so many ways one can show appreciation of love to someone, you can buy gift or do something beautiful for them just to show them that you are happy to have them in your life, well this is one way I do and normal show my appreciation to people close to me especially females, I appreciate them with what I know how to do best with my creativity which is sewing, sometimes, I buy the fabric or use some of my leftover fabric from outfit made to make something beautiful and nice for the person I intend to gift it out to or, when they bring their fabric for sewing, I sew for free, this is my simple way of showing appreciation to people around me.

For my mummy as I usually call her, I was not opportune to give her Christmas present, but I determined in my heart that I was going to do something for her that she would love.

Since I left my biological mother at kogi state to settle down in Kwara state, my guardian has been playing a motherly role for me, she is always there for me even before I could reach out to my mum, giving me her support and care the best way I felt I should show my appreciation is to make this iro and buba traditional outfit for her with the complete matching colour gele and ipele.

Sometimes last year, I posted on how to sew this head gear (gele) and the one by the side (ipele) as we usually call it here, I explained how it was sewn together. She already has this so I only made the outfit for her and she was very happy to have this even beyond my expectation, I was so glad I was able to make this for her.

The cutting process didn't take much as it requires no applique or additional materials to make the outfit.

The wrapper which is the iro was cut out with the measurement of 2yards and 12" from the 5yards of lace fabric, I used 1½" to fold in the two edges and added a long satin strip to tie at the back on both sides.

The remaining fabric was used to cut out the buba by using the hip measurement to cut out the bodice up to the shoulder, that gives us an extension to the sleeves. I used 3.5 by 4" for the neckline as seen below.

The sleeves were measured 10 by 10 from the sleeves extension.

The sleeves were neatly and carefully sewn to the sleeve extension while the neckline was piped with a bias tape.

For the inner, I made a camisole using the same color of satin for the lace.

As soon as the outfit was completed, it was delivered to my guardian, she accepted it with joy and so much prayers to bless me, I was so glad and fulfilled.

Below is my guardian in her beautiful outfit.
