How I achieved my straight skirt using a different cutting method.
Hello hiveians
In my sewing, I will say I keep doing same thing but in different ways, the more I sew, the more I get to learn knew things and do it differently, that's why today, I will be sharing with you how I made this straight long skirt.
Before now, I used to fold my fabric in two to cut the front pattern then fold another fabric, placed the front pattern on in and cut out the back pattern with seam allowance added.
Now, I do it differently, first, I fold my fabric on two to cut out the front pattern but I subtracted 1" from the hip divided by 4 ( 44÷4=11-1=10).
The back
The front was placed on a folded fabric to cut out the back, it was cut with the addition of the 1" I subtracted from the back front pattern this now gives me (44÷4=11+1=12).
The lining were cut out same shape as the skirt to be sewn together.
All other measurements were same except for the hip.
The cut out pieces were all sewn together with my sew machine and was neatly ironed.
