How I made a high and low gown for my client's daughter with two different sleeves using silk fabric

Making outfit for children was a big challenge to me before now, as I find it difficult to get the right measurements for the neckline, armhole and waistline but with the help of a friend, I was able to understand how it is done coupled with the series of online tutorials now I can make children outfit on my own without calling for help for the proper measurements to use.

My client gave me almost 2yards of fabric that I should make a simple gown for her daughter, looking at the fabric, it won't look nice with straight gown and it won't be enough for pleated one either so I thought of a simple and easy way to go about this by making a 180° flare with half length.

let's get started with the making

First the fabric was folded in triangular form to cut out the waist to full length measurement after which I opened it up to cut out some inches from the front line with a curve to the back.

Then the remaining fabric was used to cut the upper bodice after been drafted on a brown paper.

The upper bodice was sewn together with the flare and I have a full gown, the remaining was not enough for two flare sleeve so I'm thinking of making one straight sleeve and the other a small flare.

This is the gown but still thinking of if the remaining fabric will be enough for what I intend to make.

I just have to make it simple since the fabric is not up to 2yards and thank God it came out nice and you like the simplicity of the style, thanks @smilestitches.

It must be very satisfying to be able to make our own patterns and garments in any size. You did great with this dress for your client, and the resolution of that skirt in 180 was a great decision for a good result ❤️
