It's a beautiful day out here and I hope you are doing great as well as I am doing, it's a pleasure to share with you all the cutting and sewing process of this simple short gown I made for my niece for Easter.

Last week, I decided within myself that I will be making surprise outfit for my family members, just as I can for free as a gift for the Easter celebration but since then, I have been trying to meet up even with my busy schedule, I believe if I can't get expensive gift for them, I can at least use my skill and creativity to make something beautiful and nice, it's been awhile I made an outfit for them especially my nieces but this time, I will try as much as possible to gift them something nice no matter how simple it might be.

I made I post sometimes last week on the outfit I made for my sister's two little girls and the outcome was really beautiful and this time, I decided to make a simple gown outfit for another niece of mine from the left over African print fabric I made for the family sometimes ago for a wedding, after making the family outfit, I had 2yards of left over and I decided to use it to make an outfit for my sister's daughter for her to have her own as well.

From the 2yarfs of fabric, I thought of a simple outfit to make for my niece and I came up with this simple short gown but to make it more beautiful, I had I royal blue floral lace and sew to the center front of about 3" downward and it came out really nice.

To cut the simple gown, I folded the fabric into 2 using the hip measurement plus 2" for ease and seam allowance.

On the folded fabric, I marked out the the neckline, shoulder slant and armhole circumference, the the vertical and horizontal measurement of the bust, waist, hip and full length were marked out as well and it was cut out, the front was later placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back part of the gown.

To make the simple design of a floral lace on the center front, I marked out 3" downward and I cut out a long piece 4" of the floral lace which was long enough to be sewn on the center front, it was sewn with ½" on both sides on the center front just as seen below.

The front and back neckline were neatly sewn with facing from the main fabric and we're also sewn together with the side seam allowance.

To make a complete outfit, I cut out a basic sleeve of 10" from the remaining fabric and it was sewn to the armhole circumference.

Finally, I folded in 1½" at the hem of the gown and it was sewn for neat finishing. This is the final and beautiful outcome of the dress I made for my sister's daughter and I love the outcome.

I know this will definitely be a surprise to my sister and her daughter when this will be delivered to them.

Thanks for your time, support, comment and encouragement, do have a great day until my next post.

She will be so surprise to have an outfit for herself from the fabric, I could remember when she jokingly said we made outfit for only the older ones leaving the children out of the picture, I'm glad I could make hers as well after making for everyone.

Thanks for stopping by @monica-ene

I think it is a very nice gesture on your part to want to surprise your family with a present made with your hands. I loved your phrase:

I believe if I can't get expensive gift for them, I can at least use my skill and creativity to make something beautiful and nice

because I think it is very true, it is not necessary to have a lot of money to give a nice present to our loved ones, because we can use our skills to do it. Thanks so much for sharing.
