A beautiful morning to you all on this lovely day I hope you all are doing great in your respective places, it's a good thing and a great pleasure for me to be here @needleworkmonday with people people, it's our doings here in this community to always bring to you our creativity using needle and thread, it's feels great to be part of this community.

Today, I will be sharing with you the making of a surprise present I made for my aunt for here birthday coming up on 22nd of this month. Thinking of what to present to her, so many thoughts came to my mind but I concluded by doing what I know how to do best for her which is sewing. Making and outfit for her will last long and I guess she will appreciate it more.

My aunt has been a great person who care about me so much and my well being, she is so accommodating and patient with me, she gives me advice on so many things, she's like a mother to me, nothing I do or give to her will be enough for the love she shows me. Last year when she celebrated her birthday,I wasn't financially buoyant so I promised myself that this year, I will do something surprising for her.

I went to market to get this fabric which most people like and appreciate, I brought it home and decided to make a simple A-shape gown for her since I already have her measurement with me.

Cutting process

The fabric was folded in two horizontally for me to get her full length of 56" then I measured out the shoulder, neckline, armhole, waist and hip measurement.

The shape was cut out with 1" for ease at the waist and hip measurement while I added 3 to the hem for free and easy movement with 1.5" seam allowance. The front was placed on another folded fabric to cut out the back pattern with facing for the neckline.

After the cutting of the bodice, I just wanted something simple for her so, I cut out a basic sleeve of 12" and a long rectangular piece to be pleated on the hem of the basic sleeve.

The sleeves were sewn and attached to the bodice after Sewing and I have this simple and beautiful A-shape gown to be presented to my aunt as her birthday present, I'm so happy with this I've made and I'm sure she will as well.
