A beautiful day to you all out there on this beautiful day, I'm so sure you are all having nice time with yourself, it's another privilege for me to be here @diy, i'm so happy to share with you the transformation I made on my neighbour's outfit, it was initially a traditional outfit which was no longer suitable for my neighbor to wear again that's according to her though, so I helped her out with the transformation into a six pieces skirt.

Well, I don't really blame her, these days, it is considered that only older women put on such outfit of traditional outfit of iro and buba but in her own case, I made a three steps peplum blouse for the wrapper just to make it stylish instead of the common buba to complete the outfit as a traditional wear, though at first when I made the outfit for her about 2years ago, it was so beautiful on her when she wore it on her new born baby christian naming ceremony but she complained of not being easy for her to wear anymore, most women wear such outfit occasionally and sometimes they uses expensive fabric to sew it.

Just about 2 days ago, my neighbor came to me and explained why she no longer wants to wear the outfit I made for her 2years ago and she would like to transform it into something better that she can easily wear, she told me has had kept the outfit in her box since the last time she wore it for the purpose she made it, I understood what she was talking about and I told her that that's one of the reasons I don't make such outfit for myself, honestly, I don't even have one of among my outfit even when my mom insisted that as a lady it is tradition to have at least one in your wardrobe, I remembered my mom made one for me when I was a teenager, believe me I later gave it out to one of my cousins, so when my neighbor explained why she wanted to transform the outfit, I agreed with her.

The wrapper was measured 2yards and 8" so it will be enough to make a skirt, then I have to decide which type of skirt to make, if I make a straight skirt from it, I will have much left over as I will be using 1yard and few inches from the wrapper, I thought of making a six pieces skirt, obviously it will be enough without wasting the fabric that is with my accurate calculations, I have to do the calculations before cutting the fabric in other not to have shortage of fabric, my calculations were done and I started work immediately.

To cut the six pieces skirt, I folded the fabric in 2 with the bust span measurement plus 5" for the flare, I marked out the bust span measurement down to above the knee line then I curved it out to the full length.

The center from is the basics of the other pieces as I used the center front to cut out the center back with zipper allowance

The center front also was used to cut the remaining sides of the skirt as I subtracted the center front from the circumference measurement but with same flare at the full length. With it I cut out four pieces 2 for the side front and 2 for the side sides.

The lining for the wrapper was used to cut out lining for the skirt as well.

The main fabric and lining were sewn together separately then we're later sewn together for neat finishing

The front and back were sewn together with the side seam allowance and the zipper was sewn to the zipper allowance.

This is the final outcome of my transformation, changing a wrapper into a six pieces skirt with the initial blouse. My neighbor will be wearing this outfit to church on Sunday. She's so excited with the beautiful outcome.
