Turning point

March was a turning point month for me, being that I finally took the bold step and relocated.

The face of a happy woman after making the right decision.

I had needed a more relaxing and calm environment for my child as it wasn't easy joggling work and child care all by myself.

At a point my child and I started loosing weight. Not that we do not feed well, but we were stressed and overwhelmed at the same time.

My activities was intercepting with her growth/welfare, and having to always run from one end of the town to the other for school run, was starting to take a toll on my mental health.

There was a time she missed her midterm test because I could not mentally process properly what I had read.

At the time, I saw midterm break instead of midterm test. When my daughter eventually resumed school the following monday, she was the only one in school that day and the only person on uniform that morning going to school.

I was devastated when I heard the midterm break just started, as they have been doing test all along she wasn’t in school.

In the teacher's defense she said she had thought we traveled, as I had earlier told her we will be traveling and that was why she didn't call to enquire having not seen my daughter in school.

It felt like film till I went back to the school’s whatsapp group chat to confirm what I had read, and truly I saw it was midterm test and not midterm break.

I was shattered and felt like a failure but thankfully the situation was resolved.

So when the opportunity for relocation came, I jumped at it because I will not only rest but my daughter too will get to grow amongst her age group and peers.

Remember that saying if the mountain does not go to Mohammed, Mohammed will go to the mountain? that was what happened.

I had tried getting a relative to come live with me and baby sit my child but all my efforts failed. So I resorted to doing it all by myself.

We got to Delta State on Friday and spent close to an hour in traffic at Ughelli because the road is bad, plus there is an urgent need for flyover in that Otovwodo junction as that is the major culprit of the traffic jam.

on Saturday, I went to the Market where I discovered the cost of foodstuff is higher than where I am coming from.

And on Sunday, my Sister, our children and my mom all went to my Aunt's house for the Easter gbedu.

ALL IMAGES ARE MINE

We had too much to drink that there was no space left for the rice and chicken, so we did take away.

There was music and we merried. I took some pictures I had sent to another of my aunty who wasn’t present and she was really excited we get to have some family time.

She was more happy that I could be present as they’ve all been complaining bitterly on how I’m too busy for family time.

In all, March was a really good one, I bounded, I rebuilt bridges and as well burnt down old bridges that no longer serve.

Did you relocate to ughelli or somewhere else? This is because you said you spent close to an hour in traffic and apparently this implies that you passed Ughelli.. I live in ughelli and we are already use to the traffic at otovwodo junction. I don't think the government is ready to put any flyover there anytime soon.

Glad you finally relocated.. Atleast this will help you daughter alot..

Welcome to Delta state

No dear, I relocated to Warri. The government that has been sleeping since they assumed office? I'm not hoping on them too.

Oh that's nice.. Good to have you in delta state.

We shouldn't expect anything from them.

That was truly a brave decision and I’m so proud that you did this for yourself and your baby
I can’t even the mental toll that you’ve been experiencing all this while

Hopefully, the new place is judged perfect for you and her

Adapting to changes causes stress, you did a good job mom, even though you had a hard time at the end of the month, you celebrated all you learned.

The Easter groove erased all the juggles for you.
Next time, be kind enough to announce this kind of gathering in article form, so we gather and turn up.
And I'm so close to that location 🥲

I can't imagine the stress you and your daughter must have passed through. At least now that you're close to relatives the stress would be reduced.

Your daughter is really beautiful🤗

Yay, I'm so happy for you! It's hard work being a parent, providing for your family, and juggling your child's needs with your own... doing it alone is a real struggle! Much nicer to live closer to family - both for support and companionship. And you know what? It's not worth beating yourself up over getting the dates wrong for testing and school breaks. Sometimes there is just too much on our plates 🤗 Good to see that you and your daughter are already enjoying happy times with family. !LUV !ALIVE
