If you've followed me for a while you know that gaming is a center point I feel is only getting started tin the crypto space. In the last bull run just three years ago we saw gaming take a massive leap in terms of value and what could be but the tech for a lot of this wasn't there. It was mainly promises and not so much any real games. Most where browser style games with very limited capabilities.

But after a few years and what everyone saw what could be a lot of money started to be invested into building high quality games that not only run on the blockchain but also have their own economies.

GTA 2025

At the moment the next installment of GTA one of the biggest games with a massive player base is expect to release in 2025. GTA 6 is so far rumored that it might have crypto in it because the games expected to take place all online. Gaming is one of the central points that will bring massive adoption and make it common place for everyone.

Now while it's just rumored at the moment and lawyers are not so sure we will really see it because there's plenty of laws and red tap to cut through in order to really make it happen you also have to realize what a mammoth of a project GTA is.

Immutable X

Immutable has come a long way. From Gods unchained which was stuck for the most part because of record high fees on the ethereum network quickly found themselves building a new platform called Immutable X.

Gods unchained is a very solid deck building type of game but the platform now has over 200 other applications currently running on it making it a powerhouse for the web3 gaming space.

This is a direction we are starting to see a lot of companies go now including right here on hive with Arcade Colony

The entire process is here and let's be honest who hasn't played a game in the past where they wish those assets would go from account to account (Via NFT form in this case) or be able to buy the in game currency for fiat or swap it out for some profits.

Illuvium

Illuvium has been center stage for a while now but it really hasn't taken off as much as it should at least in my own opinion. The platform is expected to release a lot of new games this year of which we should be seeing here in the next three months a start to that rollout. These are your normal play games like Fortnite style which shows a lot of promise.

All of these games are interconnected which means playing one requires the other or at least the assets of the other further building demand for all play styles.

What's clear is your cookie cutter browser games are up for a serious challenge this time around.

Gala

Gala games has had a little battle behind them but that seems to be sorted and the gaming studio is full force on new projects and games they have been releasing. It's pretty clear by now that Gala has a solid system going for it and great titled for people to play that are easy to get into.

Many of their games allow you to play as you normally would and then opt into the NFT and crypto asset part of the game if you wish too. This seems to be pleasing both sides. As a portion of funds made by these games is then put aside each day for pay out those who hold NFTs in the game and play with them. It's actully a very smart alternative I've seen from other main gaming platforms and feels like a much more natural way to get people involved.

Gala also has expanded into other areas as well which puts them into a rather large corp type crypto in my opinion and that's their expands into Gala music. Gala Film and of course Gala games.

Myria

Myria is showing promise as well with simply countless amounts of games being added into it and zero gas feels on myria L2. This is where I think Hive could serious start to buck up and become something which I'll get into here a little bit later.

Hive

The real issue with hive is it has no real clear mission statement. It's not something that can really be taken seriously because it's so called "decentralized" and because of that there hasn't been anyone to really lead the direction of where this chains going to go and be used for.

You see hive has been branded for a long time as a social platform. Which it could be but for years it was simply a article marketing site with vote weight of which revenue was never generated.

Luckily that has shifted a bit to where InLeo in starting to spearhead that.

The other factor on the gaming side is mainly has and is still being spearheaded by hive-engine aka Splinterlands, Genesis League and now Colony.

But as for core devs I have to say it's been lackluster at best around hive in terms of building something with a strong mission statement as to why people would want to use the chain and become involved and that clearly shows in the numbers that hive has (which continue to just be a few thousand)

Solana

$SOL has been heating up big time. Now an over $200 token doubling from it's most recent ATH of $100 SOL is showing some serious innovation and the gaming sector is another of those places.

Unlike some of the others above where they are publishing a bunch of games Sol seems to be more focused on putting a lot of effort into a few games. One of them called StarHeroes is also backed by Microsoft.

So there ya have it, it's pretty clear that the gaming sector is heating up and the big plus about the gaming sector is it's one of the sectors that seems to perform the best no matter the overall market conditions.
