The End Of An Era The Start Of A New

LeoThreads just launched yesterday and so far it's been a blast. Of course there have been some growing pains and things to fix but that's with any new development. What matters is the speed in which it's getting fixed and I have to say the LeoFinance team is doing an awesome job and paving the way for something that could be massive for the Hive blockchain.

I work with many influencers in random fields and I've warmed them up to the fact of posting on Hive and sharing their content on here. A lot of that now stems from the recent attacks web2 has been doing on content creators and people with opinions that are not aligned with the owners of those platforms.

Take for example Twitter. It was a mess and still rightfully is but it was bad and clear how bad it was in 2020 election were twitter started banning people left and right including the freakin president of the united states. I mean that's next level F'ed up in my opinion. Doesn't matter how much you agree or disagree with someone they shouldn't be banned from a platform let the people make that choice for themselves through mutes, and blocks is how I feel.

Another funny part of this came when we heard a bunch of web2 platforms including streaming platforms like Facebook, Youtube, Mixer, Kick etc paying streamers more and building their own streaming platforms to counter Twitch. Well now you have Facebook shutting down their streaming, youtube pretty much only pushing shorts and no longer pushing live streams much and kick being a mess in terms of being a front for their gambling sites. All of these platforms have removed revenue streams for people.

Remember when Twitter was taken over and Elon said imagine getting paid for the content you produce on their platform... Well instead of that a vast majority of people are now asked to PAY to use the platform lol

This ushers in a new era of social and one that is only now being born and realized.

Because of this move where web2 was saying they would start rewarding content creators more but instead took more away from them (aka sounds like the government lol) it's clear that web3 can do better and I believe LeoThreads is one of those building blocks.

Web3 is showing us how content creators and users can in a way own and vote on how the platform is built. Not only that though but it also shows us that people are now in control of what they want to see and don't want to see. For example If there's someone I don't care to view their content anymore I can mute them but that plays no affect on how they are treated to everyone else as there's no algo to say show persons A content over persons B content.

This move is the start of what I believe will be true web3 and a reason to get content creators and people excited about the possibilities of web3 and using social media again. Going back to the roots of what made it great and no longer a sense pool of companies selling everything about you to others and giving you nothing in return but limiting your contents reach and a ban or random removal.

Great point, I am surprised at how many have been queuing up to pay Elon to use Twitter! lol
