Today marks yet another LPUD (Leo Power Up Day) at time in which people in the InLeo community power up their LEO tokens.

This time around I ended up powering up a little over 700 $LEO (Would have been more but it was only a 2 week cycle) My goal is to hit at least 150,000 by years end which should be very doable.

What Does Powering Up $LEO Do?

LEO works much like the Hive token in which you'll be earning from many ways much like Hive but also some unique ways that only InLeo offers.

Curation

LEO powered up acts as voting power. This voting power is used to cast votes and reward other authors on threads or on their articles of which InLeo supports both.

By casting votes on others content you earn what is known as a curation reward. This curation reward on Hive is roughly 6% on Leo I'm unsure of what the value is but I believe it's a little higher but I can't ever really tell via the payouts. If someone around here knows for sure please let me know lol. But the curation should be a decent percent matching close to Hive for example.

Marky a hive user and witness provider here on Hive pulled this for me so thank you! That bottom number shows about a 5.27% APR from curation on my LEO tokens. So the curation on LEO is lower for sure compared to that of Hive but I suspect that LeoAds will be what offsets this and really brings back to the hodlin gang.

Authority

As much as people say money doesn't talk it does. Having someone with a higher amount of Leo interact and vote on your content is going to get you a lot more attention that's the simple matter of fact.

Bonuses

Leo has a tiered system which isn't hard coded but instead more community driven. By holding LEO power it shows your commitment to the platform and because of that you get some extra perks.

Things like submitted your long from articles for possible curation from the team. Holding 100k LEO at the moment allows for 10 reviews of articles. It also opens up discord roles and other perks which continue to grow and change with time.

Coming At Some Point

LeoAds has been a big driver for myself in terms of getting heavily involved with LEO over the years. However we have seen a lot of delays with it so far. There's a lot of good that will come once this APY for stake holders kicks in from LeoAds and I can see it sparking some more hype and activity around the chain which could very well snowball. One of the things that speaks loud is money in the crypto world and it's going to be one of the few if only front ends that does this. Big kudos to the LEO team for putting this together and I really do hope to see it fully in action soon.

The Other Aspects Of LEO

LEO is actully one of the more versatile tokens on the hive blockchain. It's able to be wrapped across a few popular blockchains such as Ethereum, Binance and Polygon. These wrapped versions can be used for swaps and also used on defi front ends opening up new possibilities for the token in terms of liquidity and flexibility.

A big takeaway is that LEO is one of the only front ends to get short form content right and do it in a way that's smooth and works well with the current structure of the hive blockchain. Other front ends that attempt to do it litter your main blog feed with a bunch of trash posts and in my opinion destroy your reputation as it looks like spam. I'm sure most users don't even realize they are doing it before it's too late using these other front ends.

Overall LEO has a lot of promise in terms of a token and in terms of where they are going with their application.
