This are the words on the lips of most Nigerians today, so before we conclude on wether or not this statement is true, let's bring to light the woes and advantages of school.

What do people really mean by the statement "school na scam"? Who are those who make this statement? Why do they have the mindset that "school na scam".

Going back to my previous post on the difficulty of studying in Nigeria, it's clear the reason why someone leaving in Nigeria should develop such a mindset, I mean what is the essence of going to school only to graduate and your standard of living is way lower than a local farmer.

There is no guarantee in going to school most especially in this part of the world which is reason enough to conclude that school indeed na scam. And now, looking at the kind of people that have the mindset "school na scam" it's sad to discover that they were actually victims of educational abuse, by not just the school but the society at large.

Most of them struggled to finish school because the system made it really hard for them to finish, some couldn't even finish because that was the only option available, and there are those who didn't even attempt entering the four walls of the higher institution but gave in to the bitterness of others and Thus made their decision not to further.

For some, it was the best choice they ever made, for others not so good as they still don't know where to put their foot on.

With the thought of this, it is crystal clear that before you decide to dump that certificate or not attempt going for it, you must have a plan and purpose for your life and future.

Those who create a plan, might not need to struggle much as long as they follow it up with action, determination and consistency. What is the plan here? "Learn a skill, learn a skill, learn a skill" the reason I emphasize on this is because it forms the foundation of what ever plan that is going to succeed.A man that decided to drop out of school at 300lv and has passion for politics would have made one of the biggest mistakes of his life and might end up becoming a corrupt politician if he eventually ends up becoming a politician.

Or a lady who has passion for fashion could decide to dump her certificate or not even go to school and still become successful as long as she decide to follow her passion to the core.

So the best advice for any one who has the ideology "school na scam" is first discover your self, know what you want and what would benefit you before you drop that certificate or decide not to go for it at all.

This way your future would be better planned for and the vice's you would have to face would be limited as there is now a ground to build your passion on.

@asherrobert also share a similar opinion On her post on Underrating education to success.

I really wonder why they feel it's a scam though without thinking of the consequences and how it affect their future, because definitely there will be a time when the need of the degree will arise.

Deffinatly!!! But for some people, I don't think the need will arise!!!

It all depends on how you want your life to be then you build forwards it.

For me that certificate is important !!!
