Roses in My Garden 🌹

Hello, everybody. I'm so sorry that it has been such a long time since my last one of these. But you know how life goes sometimes? Anyway, here are some things going on in the garden right now:

First off, I had to have surgery on my arm and shoulder last week—a complete tear in my rotator cuff along with all kinds of other stuff that wasn't fun. So I've spent most of the past week lying around under an ice pack feeling very sorry for myself. It's not very comfortable, but I can still type one-handed. Thank goodness for technology!

The good news is that I will be able to get back into the garden next month, hopefully even earlier than that if everything heals up nicely. The bad news is that I won't be doing much for a while. If it were summer, I would just putter about and do what needs to be done when it needs to be done. In this case, though, there are plants that need to go in and others that I want to move before spring really sets in. And I have a whole bunch of seeds waiting to be planted. Not to mention those flowers I want to bring inside. I'm also planning to finally take out the old trellis and put in a new one. That will give me more room for the tomato plants as well as the corn and beans I plan to plant next year.

Last week, I took pictures of the roses in the front yard to share with you guys. They're so pretty, so I hope you enjoy them.

These are my roses called Fisherman's Friend. I'm not sure why they got their name, but I love these flowers. The blooms are small and dainty, but each stem is loaded with buds. Every single bloom opens at the same time, so there are dozens of them opening all over the bush every day.

Here is the Ascot Rose. This rose was given to me by a dear friend. There used to be two bushes side by side, but one died a few years back. I don't think I'll try to replace it.

Tantau Roses. These are the only roses I grew from seeds. I started them indoors and then transplanted them once they had sprouted. They're still fairly young, so they haven't produced any blooms yet.

Anraham darby. I have one of these in the front garden and one in the backyard. I just love the little clusters of white pink flowers.

Romantic Antique. This rose was given to me by my grandmother. I absolutely love the smell of it. It's sweet and spicy at the same time.

Clematis Multi Blue. I just love these flowers. They start out purple and fade to blue as they age. I have several varieties of clematis planted here and there throughout the garden.

Finally, here is a picture of the geisha in the front yard. Isn't she pretty?

That's it for today. Thank you for reading, and I'll see you next time.
