On Sunday we celebrated my grandmother's 85th birthday. It is a great privilege to be able to reach 85 years of age enjoying good health, despite the fact that my grandmother has had some discomfort due to hypertension in recent months, she has enjoyed good health all her life, I imagine it is because she is a very active person.

El domingo celebramos el cumpleaños nro 85 de mi abuela. Un gran privilegio poder llegar a 85 años gozando de buena salud, a pesar que mi abuela ha tenido ciertos malestares por hipertensión en los últimos meses, ella ha gozado de buena salud toda su vida, me imagino que es porque ella es una persona muy activa.

She is one of those people who cares a lot about others, always looking out for everyone, her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She always has us in her prayers, her memory is so agile that she can remember many things until each one's birthday and the truth is that at my age I forget many things.

Ella es de esas personas que se preocupa mucho por los demás, siempre pendiente de todos, sus hijos, sus nietos y bisnietos. Siempre nos tiene en sus oraciones, su memoria es tan ágil que puede recordar muchas cosas hasta el cumpleaños de cada uno y la verdad que yo a mi edad me olvido de muchas cosas.

That day while we were together, I marveled at how a person can transmit his essence as widely as the trees. My grandmother had 6 children and from there 65 grandchildren were born, and then I lost count with the great-grandchildren... We have never been able to reunite the whole family, I think that when that happens, they would not all fit in the photo.

Ese día mientras estábamos reunidos, me maravillaba de cómo una persona puede transmitir su esencia tan ampliamente como los árboles. Mi abuela tuvo 6 hijos y de allí nacimos 65 nietos, y luego perdí la cuenta con los bisnietos... Nunca hemos logrado reunir a toda la familia, creo que cuando eso ocurra, no cabrían todos en la foto.

We used to meet in the Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda park, on my grandmother's birthdays, but then with the pandemic we didn't do it again, so this time it was also a very special family reunion, since some had left the country They came back and were there celebrating the birthday. In this photograph is my grandmother with my two aunts and my mother, the uncles did not go because one was sick, another was working and another was out of the country.

Solíamos reunirnos en el parque Generalísimo Francisco de Miranda, en los cumpleaños de mi abuela, pero luego con la pandemia no lo volvimos a hacer, así que en esta oportunidad fue también un reencuentro familiar muy especial, ya que algunos se habían ido del país, regresaron y estuvieron allí celebrando el cumpleaños. En esta fotografía está mi abuela con mis dos tías y mi mamá, los tíos no fueron ya que uno estaba enfermo, otro trabajando y otro fuera del país.

The family has grown remarkably, drop by drop, each one put something to share since there were many of us and the wife of one of my cousins took care of the cake since she works with pastries. Even the children enjoyed the celebration, but without a doubt my grandmother was the one who enjoyed it the most. Seeing part of her offspring there singing her birthday, I saw tears on her face, I had never seen my grandmother cry, the good thing is that it was joy.

La familia ha crecido notablemente, así de gota en gota, cada uno puso algo para compartir ya que éramos muchos y la esposa de uno de mis primos se encargó de la torta ya que ella trabaja con repostería. Hasta los niños disfrutaron de la celebración, pero sin duda alguna mi abuela fue la que más lo disfrutó. Al ver parte de su descendencia allí cantando cumpleaños, vi lágrimas en su rostro, nunca había visto a mi abuelita llorar, lo bueno es que fue de alegría.
