A CROCHET BEANIE TO START OFF

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog. I trust you’re all doing great. It’s been a while since I posted any of my crochet creations, that's because I haven't made any new crochet pieces in a while - for justifiable reasons. I am back now, I can’t say how much I have missed putting my creativity into use.

I have missed creating new pieces. For the time I was away, I would have so many ideas and be a little sad that I couldn't work on them. I did write most of it down, so now I am going to begin with bringing those ideas to life.

To start, I made a beanie. You may want to know why I chose a beanie first. Well, I made a bucket hat recently. It was nice but it didn’t come out exactly how i wanted. I was going to make another one, but with a different design.

I got the yarn I needed and was about to begin making the bucket hat. When i thought to myself, “you don’t have any beanies, why not make one instead”. That is exactly what I did. The bucket hat I was going to make was supposed to have an alpine stitch design, so I used the same design for this beanie.

I can't tell you how happy I felt being able to make something again after a long while. I finished the beanie in less than 5 hours. Truth is I didn't keep track of time, it went by faster than I noticed.

The process of making the beanie is quite simple. I used a back loop single crochet for the band, which was inspired by @crosheille I saw in one of her posts, where she used the back loop single crochet to make the band for her daughters hats. I loved it and wanted to try it with mine.

The end result was satisfactory. After making the band, I joined to form a circle and started working on my Alpine stitch design. I didn’t use any pattern for this hat. I was basically doing the necessary calculations as I went.

As I was getting closer to my desired length, I started reducing the width to make sure the top is fitted enough. Then I closed off the top and Ta Da! My beanie was ready, I love this beanie and I think I finally made something I am going to keep for myself. I hope you like it too.

Hello @blezyn

How nice that you were able to resume your knitting, I haven't knitted for three months due to an injury in my right hand, so I understand you perfectly when you say you wanted to knit. I am also making a list of everything I want to do once I recover.

How beautiful the hat turned out, plus you made it in a super combinable color. I have not knit in alpine stitch, making a note to add it to my future knitting list, I will surely make a hat.

Thanks for sharing.

Greetings.

Oh I'm sorry about your hand. I hope you recover soon so you can resume knitting. I can't wait to see all the beautiful ideas you have.

I'm glad you like the hat. Thanks for your comment.

Ohhhhh so curious, do you have a link to this alpine stitch (did I asked this before and forgot it??? Oh dear I have a deja vu 😳) I love the stitch pattern. It looks perfect on the beanie like tiny cables.

I'm not sure you've asked for the link before.

here's the link to a tutorial by Bella Coco. Her tutorial is easy to understand and straightforward.

I used to do this thing back then o..
I miss my childhood knitting skills.
I guess I wasn't encouraged..
One day I was knitting endlessly without knowing what it was I was doing just straight.. I was told I was making a wrapper.. E pain me. Hehe

Nice piece of work.

Oh dear, sorry you weren't encouraged. It's not too late to start over you know.

😂😂 I can imagine the realization when they said it was wrapper. I mean you could have easily used it as a blanket so I guess it's not so bad.
