Food For Thought - Modern Era of Technology and Hiring

I am blog-beginner. Sure the name is funny but man I wish I knew that the username I select is not a mere display name and will be my identity forever here. Anyways, this was a long due post which was being compiled in my head for weeks but its finally going digital now.

I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about how things changed drastically in the past 2 years. We may very well classify them as pre and post Covid times. Being associated with the technology field I sure noticed the gigantic change in technology too.
I have been into the technology field for more than 11 years now. And I remember the days when it took an year or two to understand a particular technology at a business proficiency level. However as per my personal opinion, the modern era technologies, so called cloud technologies are over simplified. Can't ignore the fact that they are even evolving very rapidly. By no means I am saying that it is bad, it is always beneficial because now the core business logic will get a lot more attention. The only challenge I see today is that the jobs and recruitment process has not adapted to this change very well.

The recruiters from the place I live are still recruiting developers for certain technology. When the giants like Amazon, Microsoft and Google have simplified the technology so much, does it really make any sense to still recruit technology based talent. I am not talking about technologies like Rust, Solidity, machine learning and artificial intelligence etc.They sure have a big learning curve and some additional knowledge associated with it. But the cloud data warehouses, or cloud databases or cloud hosted servers are something which I think are just a lift and shift of infrastructure from your owned infrastructure to Amazon's infrastructure. Additionally they have much simplified interfaces to configure the infrastructure. Most of it even happens automatically behind the scenes.

Is it time that the values like loyalty to the company, commitment to delivery with excellence, ability to learn and adapt etc. have a more significant share in the recruitment process. I have seen situations where organizations started looking for the cloud technology talent outside. They rolled out offers for some AWS Data Engineers. The frustrated loyal employees learnt the same technology and resigned even before the external talent was on-boarded. Now since the technology isn't as difficult to pickup, why not cross train a proven existing resource instead.
Organizations can save themselves a lot of hassle. Today by recruiting external talent organizations are merely exchanging resources at an increased salary of 30% to 40% sometimes even more.
I might have a single side perspective of the whole situation and would appreciate a counter argument on this point.
