My Number One Passion
What is your number one passion, the thing you do that makes you feel the most happy, peaceful, or satisfied?
For this contest brought to us by the Ladies of Hive I didn't have to think very long about deciding what makes me happy. I retired in 2017 and my retirement dream was to travel. Thanks to covid, no one did much traveling in the subsequent year and a half but we are slowly venturing out again.
But the contest question not only wants to know what makes me happy, but it specifies also PEACEFUL and SATISFIED. That put a little bit different light on just the "happy" part. Spending time with my grandchildren certainly makes me happy, but rambunctious 6 and 8-year-olds can't be termed peaceful - our time together is a whirlwind of activities.
Now if I were to go with just "passionate about" I would be tempted to talk about Splinterlands! I started playing this game a couple of years ago and it is really paying off big time now. With the airdrops and the price of SPS and DEC both rising, it's very easy for me to be passionate about it. But, again, "peaceful" doesn't fit into this picture at all. The competition is so fierce now that my win rate has dropped and engaging in battling for my daily quest often brings on an episode of Tourrettes Syndrome rather than any feelings of peace!
So that brings me back to travel, which I'm certainly passionate about and I find very satisfying. But there are aspects of travel that are certainly not peaceful. We like to take road trips and usually drive our car instead of taking a plane. However, traffic jams are definitely NOT peaceful. Rude people and crowds are also not peaceful. Our recent trip to Miami Beach is still giving me nightmares of I-95 traffic!
So what does meet the criteria of "passionate", "peaceful" and "satisfying"? Travel to see nature! Nothing is more calming than to admire nature in all her unspoiled grandeur. These photos were taken in Seattle, WA.
These three pictures were taken hiking and horseback riding at the Garden of the Gods area in southern Illinois.
And these final two were taken in the state of Washington on a nature walk. You can see that the other recurring theme in my passionate, peaceful, and satisfying category is that I'm accompanied by my husband @crypt-skip. He's the one constant factor in my life that adds that all-important JOY to life, no matter what we are doing.
And to end this contest entry, I would like to invite @geekgirl to join our esteemed group of Ladies of Hive.

You have received 5 LADY(LOH) tokens fr posting in Ladies of Hive.
Please note that since our LOH token is still so new, that it will be worth more if we HOLD them for a bit before trying to sell them. Some have been trying to sell them immediately after receiving them, but holding them for a bit will help them to increase in value! We are working behind-the-scenes to try to keep the price stable, but the "sell orders" are hampering the stabilization of the price of this new token. Please hold on to your tokens. Thank you! 🙂I play Splinterlands too!
Later, I'll play about 5 games before I go to bed. Hehehe😝😜
I can't wait till I retire. Unfortunately, that's some years yet.
It's nice to go on vacations, especially if you are with someone you love!
Thanks for sharing, and good luck with the contest.

Nature is solace for the soul! Very nice @blueeyes8960! I live in Washington state, and am ever aware of the beauty and peace that surrounds me. Thanks for sharing!
Yes, I'm envious of you and all the beautiful scenery you have to enjoy any time you wish. We took that trip to Seattle, and fell in love with the area. Three weeks wasn't nearly enough, we'll be back!
Awesome! Come further north and visit the Mt. Baker area, but do it in July, August, or September to avoid the 8+ feet of snow that can fall there! It's beautiful! Take care!
That's when we were then, the last 3 weeks of July. The weather was absolutely beautiful. Not a single day of rain either. They were having forest fires further north from Seattle. Hope that is over now!.
I think the fires in Washington mostly; not so in other areas. Take care @blueeyes8960!
Travel within nature can definitely be peaceful - I agree. Sorry to hear your plans were scuppered somewhat by covid - can't wait to travel again soon. Love that photo of you two!
Thanks for the support, glad you liked the photos.
How fun that you love playing splinterlands! I avoided learning how at the start because I felt I didn't have enough time to take that on, and now I am totally lost when people talk about it
.
You have traveled to some really wonderful places. It's one of my favorite things to do too, although it has been a while since I have left home.
Enjoy your retirement years. I love being retired!
@melinda010100 there are days my husband wishes I hadn't taken on Splinterlands, lol. But I do really enjoy it and they just keep adding and improving so it never gets boring.
I hope you get a chance to start traveling again, there's nothing like discovering new places. I love being retired too. I haven't regretted it for an instant, retiring at age 58. So many people work for their whole life, then don't live long enough to enjoy their retirement.
I retired early, too. I had done a lot of overseas travel, but after retirement, before my husband died, we mostly did road trips and I got to see much of the US. The older I get the happier I am to enjoy being home. 🌞
I agree time spent around nature is peaceful, serene and the beauty is deeply satisfying!
Lovely pictures you have here. I hope this pandemic is permanently contained soon so people can travel just like before. 😊
Yes, we all hope that covid becomes just an unpleasant memory and we can move on. And get moving on travel adventures.

If anyone can leave the workforce early and not suffer financially for it, do it! Travel is one of the things that I love to do. I skipped learning Splinterlands as I knew I would not have time for it and now, I am wondering if I shouldn't have just tried. It is the talk of the town here and I have no idea who they are killing off.
It is important to know who you are battling with!
Travel is definitely it for me, road trips are best right now as our overseas wings have gotten clipped. But, I love to travel here and we have so many interesting places, right within our own borders. Thanks for sharing your fun!
I hear you, working through your thought process we need teleportation to a space and time to enjoy the outdoors, getting there is a nightmare on our roads as well!
Grandchildren I have none, but know the neighbours little ones are super boisterous little girl booms the orders as youngest and boys tow the line, Fun to watch.... for a short while.
Never got into gaming, no comment, can only but imagine how Splinterlands hotted up being so popular.
Have a wonderful weekend @blueeyes8960 and @crypt-skip hopefully find ways to travel without the stress getting to and fro.
