Better Safe Than Sorry

Crazy Organizing Day!!

I do not want to sound like a crazy nutter, but lately, the news has begun talking about food shortages again.

This pantry closet above, was floor to ceiling, left to right packed with stuff and I finally got around to organizing it. It turns out, that there lots of boxes that were almost empty, or empty. Also, there were some jars and cans that were past their expiry date, so, time to cull. Now, I can at least walk in and get to the back shelves.

The shelves are organized into rough groupings, and I've taken stock on what we have and what is needed. I like to be ready in case. Frankly, I pride myself on being able to whip up a meal if someone drops by for a surprise visit. And I can. No one walks into this house, without having a very full stomach when they leave.

The very top, first image is my basement where I keep the jams, jellies and some pickled items, too. The blueish tint comes from my Grow Lights. Across the room, I am growing a bunch of herbs, over winter, as well as indoor lettuce and Arugula.

I Do NOT KNOW What Is Coming for 2022

I hope for good, but am preparing for not so much good news. The stories I heard over the last few days talk of people being out sick, as high as 30 to 50% in some sectors of employment. This will probably randomly hit all sectors, including food processing (remember the chicken and meat packing people causing major shortages last year?).

No doubt it may also hit rail and trucking transport. On top of already stressed and strained supply lines...

Better safe than sorry is my mantra.

Happy New Year and Cheers,

that was the word here in Ontario today when restrictions were brought back in ... January at least is going to be rough but that likely means it will take February and likely into March getting back to where we were. IF it's just January

Gosh, I hope all this is over by March! 🙏 Well done on being prepared though. I inadvertently have a massive stock of toilet paper haha...Seems I should have set the Amazon interval to every 2 months but I keep forgetting to update it 😂😂😂

But my house is not the size of American houses haha... My South African one is a decent size, but UK...not so much. Space is a premium for the price 20 miles outside of London😂

Nah, this isn't nutters. We've seen enough evidence of shortages and supply chain disruption. I'm currently still seeing it a lot in cat food, which makes me hella nervous because Yuan has food allergies - notably, he's allergic to fish, which is in almost all cat food so what I can buy him is limited in the first place and if they're out of stock...
If I get a windfall anytime soon, that's my #1 thing I want to stock up on.

I see it in other supplies as well; this last time I went shopping the cereal aisle was half empty (I've never seen that happen before) as well as paper products like toilet roll and paper towels were hit once again; a couple of months ago, it was the spice section.

This is a good moved you have taken, although we are not praying for unpleasant things to take place but is better to be proactive in all we do than to be crying in the future, good post 🤗
